No point keeping him. His job is to win this tournament, he can’t beat Scotland. Get rid and get someone else in for the rest of it

Re: Southgate out
Have to agree on that showing. He got it right against Croatia but no idea why he changed both full backs for this one.
Hey Gareth - try plating your best right back at right back.
How shite was James? Pass back. Pass back. Pass back. For ***** sake man you play for a top four club and you're playing against Championship players - grow a fuxking pair and have a go
Absolute dogger

Re: Southgate out
I was ridiculed for saying on the Dear England thread that he has very poor judgement. I thought all his tactical decisions today were shocking, including the starting lineup. He is simply a very poor manager.
You beat these by matching them up and going 442. Width, stretch them, two up front. Certainly late on. Hanley was huffing and puffing at the end.

Don’t often agree with KRBFC but spot on tonight!!
Re: Southgate out
We haven’t always been, but we do need a manager that will play to our strengths. We’ve enough talent in midfield and up front to be doing far more than Southgate is delivering.

England are playing with the exact same style that Southgate endowed upon his famous Middlesbrough side.

Re: Southgate out
I don't think the players don't give a ****. I think they do want to win but there was too much not happening and the manger didn't zero to change it.
Philips was babber (before the tournament I was "no way should Philips be playing for England" I thought he was immense on Sunday, but today I thought he was what I expected).
Foden off? What the hell was he thinking King? Some people think Dyche makes odd subs but that one takes the biscuit

I heard the same stuff when we had Carrick Gerrard Lampard Scholes in midfield, how many times are we gonna blame the manager? lets just accept we have excellent individuals but we'll always be meh internationally. The expectation is ridiculous, we've never been good.

Re: Southgate out
Played for a draw from kick off. James and Shaw have been superb attacking FBs for their clubs but very rarely got down the line tonight and why play two holding MFs against a team that is playing 5 at the back.
Because they played 5 at the back DCL should have been first sub of the night and pump balls onto his head. If he doesn’t win it he causes mayhem.

The difference with this team is that they complement each other better than Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard etc did. Scholes was Caviar, Gerrard, Meringue and Lampard, Bacon, all rather nice but shite together. This group is afar better suited and should work.KRBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 10:03 pmI heard the same stuff when we had Carrick Gerrard Lampard Scholes in midfield, how many times are we gonna blame the manager? lets just accept we have excellent individuals but we'll always be meh internationally. You do realise that all top footballers are individuals don’t you, and it’s the managers job to.....manage that.

Re: Southgate out
Poor from England and Southgate tonight. How he didn’t see we needed a change in the middle is beyond me. Phillips and Rice played well against Croatia but to break down a hard working back 5 and 3 in the middle you need some more than 2 DMs. Bellingham should have come on and Sterling should have been the one to come off for Grealish, not Foden.
Re: Southgate out
I don't understand your point, you're the one whining after England just qualified for the knockout stages. We can always go back to not qualifying under Mclaren or losing to Iceland with Roy. I assume you weren't born last week, you should be used to average England performances by now.

My point is we need a decent manager. We have good players, we have a poor manager, we have had poor managers.
I assume you think that just because it’s been **** it will always continue to be ****.
Did you watch Burnley in the early 90s? Are we still playing in league two?

Just watched Southgate's interview and he said exactly what I was waiting for: its a young team and that was part of a learning curve (or words to that effect). Absolute bullocks, the man is a managerial failure.
Re: Southgate out
You’re argument is basically “England are always crap”.
I prefer to be more optimistic and strive for more. We have world class players, we have a leave 1 manager

Re: Southgate out
Is it too much too expect some entertainment, it is supposed to be an entertainment industry after all isn't it.
Yes England might have qualified for the KO stages, but we won't get any further, not enough creativity and goals in this squad I'm afraid.
The one player who emerges with any credit after that yawnfest was Grealish.
As for who should take over from Gareth "boring" Sarfgate, I'd give Howe or Lampard a stab, we probably still won't win anything, but at least we might provide some goals to waken up our long suffering fans.

Re: Southgate out
How poor were all our world class players tonight?
Re: Southgate out
I think it's alot deeper than replace the manager and magically we become brilliant to watch, we've tried the whole chop and changing managers. From foreign to English. That style of football, slow build up is deeply engrained into our national team and has been there long before Southgate. You aren't so judgemental of Dyche's boring football when it's getting results because as has been said on here ''it's a results business, entertainment is secondary'', the results under Southgate have been excellent. The Scotland draw is beneficiary, hopefully we can draw against Czech and finish 2nd in the group to avoid Portugal/France/Germany in the next round. As for League One manager, maybe but he's built a far better side than Capello/Sven/Mclaren/Roy managed with potentially less to work with.

Relegated Boro
Failed with the U21's
Did nothing to warrant getting the job
Proper FA yes man
I've probably bored you all with SouthgateOut since the day he got the job but taking off Foden and then marooning Grealish out on the wing should show anyone with an ounce of faith left in him that he can't do the job - that's not someone out of their depth that's just someone who doesn't have a clue and didn't watch the game.

The usual spiel from GS , give the excuses a rest man it's old hat now, and we should be imposing ourselves on inferior opposition such as Scotland,Vino blanco wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 10:23 pmJust watched Southgate's interview and he said exactly what I was waiting for: its a young team and that was part of a learning curve (or words to that effect). Compare England's dour safety first approach with how the likes of Italy and the Netherlands have played against their opponents.
.
Yes England have kept 2 clean sheets, but that's more down to luck than anything else, and once we meet a half decent side we'll be sent tumbling out of the tournament as we always are when it reaches the business end.
Oh well at least the Welsh might give us something to get excited about as they did in 2016.

you throw the game against the Czechs not against Scotland - after that performance England will be under pressure to win.
