Yeah but John Hartson on commentary said there was no malice intended ! He should know about malice, just ask Eyal Berkovich !evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 7:08 pmI'm not a fan who "these days" thinks any contact equals a legbreaker. Have another look at it, I'm not convinced it was accidental - the lad made no attempt to pull out of what was, clearly, a lost cause and was lucky not to cause his opponent serious injury. If that foul isn't a straight red it's hard to imagine what might be.

Re: Today's Games
Well done to Wales, and they must fancy their chances against either Finland/Russia in the last 16.
The one real downside for them is the straight red for Ampadu, and he'll now have to sit out the next game, but if Wales do progress he'll be available again come the quarter-finals.
Italy look the real deal even with their b team playing, and their defensive record is bonkers, 11 successive clean sheets now.

Re: Today's Games
Not in this tournament no only a 1 game ban, and he may not have even played in their next game anyway, but it'll still be a blow to Rob Page that's for sure.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 8:06 pmAre you sure? Is straight red not 3 games. Not being smart arse, I have no idea.
Re: Today's Games
How? their defence is well old, flat track bullies, it's a whole lot different when Mbappe is running in behind. 30 games unbeaten, against who? what have they won? everybody hyping them up because they peaked and played their best football in the group stages, like I said, peak late not early.

Re: Today's Games
So hypothetically being on a yellow card and picking up a soft second yellow for a mistimed challenge or pulling someone back results in the same punishment as punching someone in the face? That is stupid. A straight red for violent conduct should not be a just 1 match ban.

Spot on. Still a good side but will not have enough against the big boys.KRBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 11:01 pmHow? their defence is well old, flat track bullies, it's a whole lot different when Mbappe is running in behind. 30 games unbeaten, against who? what have they won? everybody hyping them up because they peaked and played their best football in the group stages, like I said, peak late not early.

France, Germany or Portugal.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 12:10 amout of interest, who do you think will win the Euro's ?
I don't care how good Italy have looked in the group stages, it doesn't matter. I'd have England over Italy in a knockout game.
Re: Today's Games
Mbappe ran behind Hungary it didn't seem nothing special to me. As for their defence it's experienced enough to know how to play against the big teams not exactly going to play on the halfway line are they?KRBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 11:01 pmHow? their defence is well old, flat track bullies, it's a whole lot different when Mbappe is running in behind. 30 games unbeaten, against who? what have they won? everybody hyping them up because they peaked and played their best football in the group stages, like I said, peak late not early.

Portugal were laughable against Germany at the back. I can't see passed France tbh (unless they fall out with each other )

Re: Today's Games
Perhaps you might, with goodness of heart, replace 'old' with experienced. Italy have an exceptional record of qualifying for tournaments and invariably doing well. They've even had the audacity to go on and win a few.KRBFC wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 11:01 pmHow? their defence is well old, flat track bullies, it's a whole lot different when Mbappe is running in behind. 30 games unbeaten, against who? what have they won? everybody hyping them up because they peaked and played their best football in the group stages, like I said, peak late not early.
As for their 30 game unbeaten run you pose the question to who they have beaten. I don't know but I presume you do otherwise why ask. Good players, tradition, excellent manager, no goals conceded yet, 30 unbeaten. Folly to ignore them. They might not even have 'peaked' yet.
Re: Today's Games
What a great shame for Billy Gilmour and Scotland as he has been tested positive for Covid 19.

Russia v Denmark should be interesting...the Danes have to win to have any chance of progressing. It is in Copenhagen so they do have a chance.

The winner is guaranteed second spot but, as you imply, a draw may well suit both sides. Ukraine have scored more though if it comes down to it.

Because of their 0-3 v Belgium Russia now have to score. This is the match to watch.

Should be force fed a polonium butty for that mistake. 0-2.

Re: Today's Games
Maele having a good game for Denmark, playing out of position on the left instead of on the right.
He's the one we were supposedly interested in at the start of the year before he went to Atalanta for 10 million (euros).

Some decent entertainment there flicking between the channels. Big mood change in Copenhagen.
Re: Today's Games
Russia now scored a dramatic penalty 1-2 .
Re: Today's Games
Very tight offside decision

Not half!
A few minutes back, Denmark could-should- have been 3-0 and Russia down to ten men!

Drawing of thicker lines don’t appear to make any difference to VAR offsides.
