That's my opinion and shared by many on this forum. BPF played so badly that SD presumably in liaison with Billy Mercer elected to play Will Norris in the final two PL games. If SD thought he had the potential he would not have thought twice, once it was known Pope was out, about automatically starting him in the last two games. The manager sent a clear message out by taking this decision. Its clear to me, and the coaches watch these guys every day, that there is a need to strengthen the number two GK slot, hence us being linked with a few keepers. Yes a loan of BPF could benefit all parties but the position is too critical in the PL and cost you points as Norris proved in the last game v relegated Sheff Utd, Sadly for both these keepers Pope and Heaton are one hell of an act to followJakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 9:40 amI agree, it’s strange how some of us have resigned ourselves to the concept that 2 players 24 years & 27 years aren’t PL standard based on a few games & also the assumption that any sort of improvement is beyond them whilst being so young, in BPF case he hasn’t even reached mid twenties yet, it’s more than conceivable that he could have another 15 years ahead left in the professional game.

Ha ha - gardening leave was 1991, it was the next company who blocked the calls. They actually changed the number from 0898 some years later because of the obvious. Did it become 0891?

Yes, he's got the experience factor but too many experiences making mistakes. Was he the one in goal for Bournemouth a couple of seasons ago when we won at their place 1-3 or have I got the wrong player?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 10:43 amBegovic - not for me. Collins to be announced imminently, for a record fee, 5 year deal.

I presume this is the same BPF who was then given an extended contract just 12 months later, up to 2024 with the option of a further year, again with the approval of SD and Mercer

From reading a couple of articles this morning, it looks like £12m but with very achievable add-ons which would take it to a record fee.

YES the same guy, but extending contracts does not guarantee PL success. Look at Long-numerous extensions and probably 4th choice CB. Definitely not a player who you would want to appear regularly if you had long term injuries. Brady another example of a contract extensionjojomk1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 12:08 pmI presume this is the same BFP who was signed in 2019 (with a nod of approval from SD and Mercer)

Certainly doesn't go along with the stupid comments like we won't sign anyone until Dyche signs or we have no money so won't sign anyone.

Nothing like jumping the gun, could we possibly wait until the signing is confirmed until it is there’s every possibility you could be the daft 1, correct me if I’m wrong we have agreed a price with Stoke, we still need to agree personal terms with the player & also a medical needs to be passed.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 12:41 pmCertainly doesn't go along with the stupid comments like we won't sign anyone until Dyche signs or we have no money so won't sign anyone.

So the earliest in 6 years. Hopefully this is the start of us getting more organised and being more proactive in windows instead of waiting for deals to fall into our lap.

don't forget the season was elongated so it needs to be worked out in days from the last game of the previous season

Before we get into how long it takes, lets get it over the line.

Can’t of been that shocking if we didn’t score! If he plays shocking and keeps a clean sheet I’ll take that type of player any day, imagine what he’ll do when he doesn’t have a shocker?
Look at Ben Mee when he first came in, he didn’t look anything particularly good, but look at what regular games did for him.
Phillips will be a good bit of business.

I understand the Collins transfer fee, he is a fantastic young defender. That is stokes youngest ever captain.
But I just don’t get breaking our transfer record on a 24 year old lad that has barely even played. I feel this will be another Ibe/ Solanke type signing. Your paying for the name rather than the ability.

Pace: “We are extremely pleased to have secured the services of Nathan, who has been much sought after as one of the most promising young players in the country," said Burnley chairman Alan Pace.
"We believe he will be an excellent addition and we see his signing as an ideal start to our summer’s business and the new collaborative approach to transfer activity now in place at the club, through our technical committee that involves the manager and his coaching staff, the scouting and recruitment teams, along with our data analytics department.”
