It would have been.

I would suspect that we’ve included a big sell on with the deal.

No. He was Oldham manager four years ago and was then at Motherwell.

Played nearly 500 league games in England mainly for Bournemouth and Luton.

He might have made the first team squad, Burnley could sell him for a profit ( possibly via a sell on deal ) and to raise the general standard of the youth teams and further their development.

Potentially could have become a first team player. Got him out on loan, probably decided he wouldn't for us and then we will have got a fee for him along with a possible sell on value should he go on to move to a bigger club.

Congratulations to Ryan. After two seasons on loan there he must feel more like a Morecambe player than a Burnley player. I wish him luck and hope he has a good season in League One.

Glad he's got his future sorted out, after his displays in their promotion campaign it shouldn't come as a surprise they've snapped him up permanently, and League offers him a good stage to strut his talents.

And if we have included a sell on fee then the better he does for the Shrimpers, the better for our hopes of recouping a decent wedge should he move on at any point.

He was never going to get first team football at Burnley, so it made sense for him to go out on loan, and now he's proved he's more than capable at lower league level he's now earned a longer contract, good on the lad for not just being content to sit in our youth system and play in the development leagues, he'll have learned far more by going to Morecambe and playing at League 2 level than he would have done by appearing for our under23's.

Good luck to him in the future and I am sure that it will help that he is now well and truly a Morecambe player.

If that’s the way you want to look at signing a young lad, we might as well dump the academy now!
