Big mistake imo. Will cause unrest all summer. Can see a scenario where they don't start well - same with Palace.

Everton fans complain about everything all of the time, imagine if he drops a point in his first 400 games - they'll be on him like a shot. I'll be surprised if he lasts the season

Probably about the best Everton could attract.
I imagine the internet outrage will calm down after a win or 2. Personally never seen this rule about only working at 1 club in a city, even when that club sacks you then you can't go work for another club in the city.
I take it there would be the same outrage if he signed Salah & Van Dijk

Excellent manager. Not saying this is the right appointment for him but his track record is impressive. Tactically far too aware for us on a number of occasions when he was at Newcastle.

Probably seeing the new ground as high profile - it will certainly be very visible in Liverpool, unlike Anfield.

Everton on the road to nowhere…. Again.
Imagine that boys and girls…. £200m a year just to stand still and make no significant progress.

Re: Benitez confirmed at Everton
The 1st Merseyside derby is due on 30 November at Goodison, so it'll be interesting whether the Everton or Liverpool fans boo Rafa the loudest.
The return at Anfield isn't until April 23, so we'll have to wait and see what sort of reception he receives on his return with their local rivals.
I genuinely don't know what Everton expect they've just appointed a CL winning manager and their fans are still whining, is it any wonder they never enjoy success when this is the way they treat their gaffers before they've taken charge of a match, deluded is the word given their dire track record in the last few decades.

Bramley Docks isn’t visible unless you’re pretty much down there (and there isn’t anything to go there for). You’ll have fantastic views of it from New Brighton, Wallasey and Birkenhead though.dougcollins wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 5:30 pmBut not easily from the city centre, which is the point.

Well! for some reason I can't fathom many of their followers still consider them as a big club, reality check guys you really aren't a big fish these days, in fact the likes of Leicester or even West Ham could argue they're bigger than the Toffees.

Well as a neutral I find it all highly amusing, and the fallout will be hilarious to witness.
If you're correct than it'll go belly up fairly quickly as any club which isn't all pulling in the same direction will get nowhere fast.

Yep! unfortunately for him they visit OT on day 1, and their next few don't look particularly easy either, so he could be under pressure right from the off.
Great for Burnley though as we go to Goodison in the opening weeks, so if the home support are on his and the teams back that's ideal for us, and gives us a much better chance of racking up yet another victory at Everton.

Interesting to see what moves Everton make in the transfer market. They didn’t strike me as a team that had good players who couldn’t click. More a team that had deficiencies in too many areas.

They always seem to spend a fortune on bang average players, with the odd talent thrown in who then just become lost among the rest.

They have some injuries but he has brought Rondon to the club who looks slower than Gifton Noel Williams.
He's a terrible manager.

Their FFP situation has pretty much nullified their ability in the transfer market. Won’t get better any time soon regardless of who is manager.

Saw a couple of videos from the away end post match yesterday. Was getting pretty toxic (to say the least) between players and fans.
Re: Benitez confirmed at Everton
His record and the trophies he's won would suggest he's far from a terrible manager. He's been given no money at Everton after their previous managers blew millions on rubbish like Alex Iwobi.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 7:14 pmThey have some injuries but he has brought Rondon to the club who looks slower than Gifton Noel Williams.

He’s been in charge of some pretty big clubs in his time since leaving Valencia- Liverpool, Inter Milan, Napoli, Chelsea and Real Madrid- and not once seriously challenged for a league title never mind won one.

Re: Benitez confirmed at Everton
After the first 6 games this season it was like Rafa had never been at Liverpool and all was good.
Fast forward a few bad results it is like he wears a Liverpool shirt on match days, Everton has a high percentage of deluded fans who think they should be a lot better than they are.
If your squad has players like Godfrey, Holgate, Mina, Allan, Iwobi, Davies, Delph, Tosun and Rondon you aren't going to have many good seasons

Re: Benitez confirmed at Everton
Only thing separating them from being 3rd bottom on 9 points is them having a good 10 minutes v us, whist we had 10 minutes of madness, in a game where we had been good upto that 10 minutes and looked quite comfortable.
It'll only take a 3 nil to Liverpool Wednesday at Goodison at that will be it I think, and with they way both are playing, that might be Everton getting off lightly

They seem to be stuck in a cycle like that with any manager recently though as in the start of well then fall off a cliff.

Re: Benitez confirmed at Everton
The pressure is on now. The appointment was never going to work particularly with Rafa’s style of play in recent seasons. Absolute shoe in for next prem manager to be potted. Very bad idea to bring him in with all the bad blood. The job is hard enough even when you have a clean slate to start with and better players than those mentioned in this thread.

I don't think it will get that far though. If they lose against Liverpool the crowd will turn on those higher up as well, and we know chairman make managers scapegoats.

In those days you could get away with a lot more in a crowd.
Moshiri / Kenwright should be answering a lot more questions. Moshiri in particular is never quiet when he thinks he has done something well.
