Mike Rigg (and Darren Bentley) leaving?
Re: Training ground guru says Darren Bentley gone
Bad news for Darren, Pete Oliver's very good though, so hope he's retained.

Re: Mike Rigg
ALK making their moves.
The Rigg one surprises me somewhat. He has a very strong CV. I’d be shocked if we could find much better willing to come here, given how little recruitment we actually do!
What I’d like to know now is the calibre of the replacements. There’s a lot of roles going at the club at the moment!

Daz is a top, top bloke.
I worked with him since 2007 and has been brilliant. It frustrated me when I used to read the criticism of him on the messageboard because those posters don’t know how good he was at his job. Went above and beyond every time.
I wish him the best

I thought when you were on Gardening Leave, you were still officially part of the organization and got paid but actually you didn't go into work or actually do any work on behalf of your employer but you still got paid. The title stays with you until your last day on gardening leave as I understand it.
Had a neighbor put on gardening leave twice in 5 years, he actually only worked 2 years in the 5 but got paid for all 5 years, first time he also could not take a job or his payment stopped, second time he was allowed to take another job and still retain his gardening leave salary up to the end, quite bizarre really.

Paul Jenkins advising ALK, next position for him, will be interesting to see, Rigg's replacement or in the coaching staff perhaps if he impresses.

Jenkins has been around for a while and I’d expect him to take on one of these roles.

Aye, overall overseeing of the Academy would make sense, certainly goes some way to explain Jon Peppers' departure if and when such a role is to be confirmed.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 9:27 pmJenkins has been around for a while and I’d expect him to take on one of these roles.

Re: Mike Rigg
I understand that quite well, but the question is, has he been paid, continues to be paid up, right up until he actually stops gardening leave and is completely severed from the club. The two typically go hand in hand.deanothedino wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 8:49 pmRigg was gardening leave, hasn’t been working for a while.

Re: Training ground guru says Darren Bentley gone
Beg to differ, Bodge…. His interviewer style is extremely wooden and as flawed as it gets. He asks questions like they’re dissertations. They require the interviewee to be kind in providing an answer as many of them are closed statements.
I suspect the issue with DB is that he hasn’t proved an adeptness, nor adaptation of modern-day media. In my own job I specifically work with a supplier to provide me with video content specifically consumable on Snapchat, Instagram and LinkedIn in particular while the core, fuller content goes to YouTube. Perhaps Darren didn’t display such adroitness
Sad, I like the bloke
Re: Mike Rigg
I wish people would stop jumping to conclusions in that Darren Bentley has been ‘potted’. It may well be a personal choice to leave or another opportunity elsewhere similar to Mowbray’s brother leaving.
Re: Training ground guru says Darren Bentley gone
Agreed on Oliver. His interview style is so monotonous, it makes it unbearable to listen too.NRC wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 10:07 pmBeg to differ, Bodge…. Re: Mike Rigg
Personally think we should refrain from critiquing Darren Bentley’s performance on this thread.
When all’s said and done he’s a local family man and fellow Claret who has just lost his job. He probably reads these boards and won’t want to read a load of ****e about his performance from people that don’t know him.
FWIW, I don’t know him, but I have a friend who is a freelance sports journalist who told me he’s a top bloke and that of of all the grounds he’s visited across the country, he was the most organised & understood the post-match needs of journalists the best. I’m sure that’ll mean much more to him than any of our half-baked thoughts.

Darren Bentley gone....?
Apologies if I’ve missed this, but Twitter has just burst into clarets life in the last 20 mins suggesting Darren Bentley is leaving the club - nothing from him on his feed though.
Anyone know anything about this....?

I liked him.
But...
Using personal Twitter sharing club stuff is so wrong,
Even the account name (a band) , ID pic being his kid etcetc.
No very Professional really is it?
Nice bloke, very helpful but... Come on...
His luck has run out with this job.

Re: Mike Rigg
I’m not going to comment on the jobs of those involved, it would be easy to find good and bad things to say about all of them but now is not the time.
What I would say though is that the changes are becoming so numerous it becomes conceivable that Dyche or the players may get the hump. Some of these backroom staff will be very close to some of them.
It may backfire on that basis.

My worry is that if the replacement of ‘fan employees’ continues the club will see us more and more like Tesco sees it’s customers.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 3:41 pmWhy compare your support of Burnley Football Club with what goes on in a branch of Tesco ? Would you be as interested in the manager there being removed as Sean Dyche being sacked ?

I’d be pretty sure Dyche was consulted on, or at least aware of, major decisions like these.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 10:54 pmI’m not going to comment on the jobs of those involved, it would be easy to find good and bad things to say about all of them but now is not the time.

There are now major roles as CEO, Academy Director, Technical/Recruitment Director and Media Manager to fill going in to the season.
For some reason I have real confidence in Alan Pace to get these filled, the manager signed and the recruitment done that we need… but it’s looking a big ask at the moment. Need to start some good news flow over the next few weeks heading in to the season…
Re: Mike Rigg
Well Alan Pace has clearly got the hang of removing employees, if not bringing them in just yet.

DB certainly improved in his role (his early days on Twitter were a perfect example of how not to be a media manager - lost track of the amount of petty arguments he became embroiled in) but, while he's clearly a nice guy, never quite came across as having the professionalism needed for such a role at a PL club.

Re: Mike Rigg
Darren was nothing other than exemplary in all my dealings with him, and I wish him all the best for the future. It worries me that he's leaving. New owners will always bring change, but I thought he'd make it because he was one of the rare examples at the club of a staff member that was relatable and had a genuine customer service orientation.

Don’t apply for a job in military intelligence, you wouldn’t be very good at it.
