Re: Mike Rigg
I’m not overly concerned about who is leaving, but I am worried that there’s very little information about replacements for these high profile roles or the structure of the non-playing side of the organisation. In fact it feels like there’s little information full-stop. Stuff that fans need to know about ticketing or match days seems to come out very late in the day, with minimal detail and on a limited number of platforms.
Darren Bentley
I’ve just seen something on Twitter that suggests he is also off to pastures new. Anybody know if this is true?

Read that as well. I hope he has moved on and not been moved out. Does a great job and has the club in his blood.

Re: Mike Rigg
Good luck in replacing Darren Bentley.
Had no dealings with him but seen him receive angry comments with regards, transfers, ticket allocations, line ups, performances, results and just about anything else that is nothing to do with him. Hard to think how much of a salary would be needed to make putting up with some of our dickheads on a weekly basis worthwhile.

I'm surprised and saddened to hear this. He's been part of the furniture for a long time. Good guy is DB and he loves the club.

Nice guy. True Burnley fan and more to the point he seemed to get on with the Gaffer and the players very well. Not sure if this is one of Mr Pace's best decisions

Re: Darren Bentley
He has said he has ‘no immediate plans’, so I’m assuming it’s not his decision. There’s a few posts about this under the Mike Rigg thread. I’m sorry to see him go - mainly because he was such a lovely and helpful chap. And a true Claret. Just hope Phil Bird isn’t next on the list - or we’ll all be demanding ‘Justice’!

Staff leaving
I see people talking about the amount of staff that have left recently since ALK took the reigns , can someone enlighten me as to how many have actually left? And have any been replaced?
Re: Darren Bentley
Always seems a decent guy with Burnley at heart, even with that dodgy accent.
Nice to hear he goes above and beyond all things fan to BFC related, as I've emailed and messaged him 3 times in the last 12 months and a few times before that and never had a response, so i wondered what his actual role was.
I must add I'm not on twitter, which often seems many people get info and answers from him.
Maybe the club are wanting someone with UK or even international experience in the media so they can push and accelerate the brand beyond East Lancashire.
Good luck Daz for the future.

If Phil Bird does go just get this guy into replace him not quite as bias though.

Re: Staff leaving
Not surprising that staff are leaving. It's a completely new style of management/ownership and I doubt that any of the old regime would fit into their way of thinking or operating. We needed a change IMHO and this is part of it. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else leaves in the not too distant future, if results don't go our way.

Re: Darren Bentley
Darren Bentley always helped with any queries I had from this side of the world. Always helped get Melbourne Clarets photos in the programmes. One of the true Clarets on the staff. I’m not liking the way things are going at the moment.
Re: Darren Bentley
Really nice helpful chap, always replied to my queries or pointed me in the right direction....as much as I wanted new money coming into the club, the lack of explanation to all these departures is slightly worrying.
Re: Darren Bentley
Sorry to hear that Darren's leaving. A Burnley fan through and through. There seems to have been a lot of departures of 'old hands' over the summer and since the Yanks took over. I hope they know what they are doing.
Re: Darren Bentley
I think it's deeply concerning as we seem to be getting rid of all the old guard without leaving any experience in place.

Re: Mike Rigg (and Darren Bentley) leaving?
Well isn’t that just like Burnley folk?
For years Clarets have been complaining we’re tin pot in so many ways and in need of a shakeup, but as soon as it isn’t someone we’ve heard of fans are up in arms. I’m sure Daz is a great fellow, and good at his job… but Daz has been running a club that is changing and offering brand new tech demands and awareness, and a finger on the tech pulse... is Daz that man?
I don’t know but clearly AP does not think so

I think I've only had reason to speak with Darren Bentley on a couple of occasions but I seem to remember him being pretty helpful. Seems a good guy with Burnley's best interests at heart so for that reason I'm sorry to see him go.

A pity that Darren Bentley, who is known, is an 'addition' to a Mike Rigg (for whom we have little knowledge) thread.
Deserves his own.
Perhaps not global in his thinking. More Lancashire.
Let's get the best, however, we must not lose our homely feel, at Turf Moor.

Re: Mike Rigg (and Darren Bentley) leaving?
Seems a shame about Darren leaving. Could he not have moved sideways into another role whilst allowing maybe someone with the additional expertise sought after to work alongside/above him? In the grand scheme of things his salary will be pittance compared to the value/goodwill of retaining some who understand the fans and club the most. Obviously nobody knows the detail and terms of his departure.
I think back to Blackburn losing all their most well respected people after Venkys took over.
Andy Holt seems to have taken what seems like a better approach to evolving the capabilty of their staff. He’s appointed a new head groundsman above their long serving one given where they’ve come from since he’s been in post and now have their own training ground. Their pitch and training ground looks to be coming on great from pictures
I guess the consolation is some of the names linked to vacant posts seem well respected. A bit of openness from the club when all the dust has settled would be welcome

Re: Mike Rigg (and Darren Bentley) leaving?
Surely in the ALK plan the media department has a massive part to play? They're not going to make us everyone's favourite underdog by doing the same old thing. The Tiktok deal for the ladies was an indicator of that as was the NFTs partnership with YellowHeart. Both initiatives presumably fall under the Media Department and presumably neither of them lead or proposed by Darren. They've moved the goalposts and Darren's years of experience (mostly in the Championship) are suddenly not what is required for the global social media environment they want to take things.
Darren has always looked as if he enjoys presenting the content but maybe the club are going to look for a manager who will manage the strategy and give the presentation role to someone younger and more "fun". You don't get Colm Hartley presenting any of the match of the day shows he produces.
A couple of people mentioned Phil Bird. He's done sterling work for Burnley for years now but he's not "engaging" on social media. His youtube videos rarely get 20k views. Vizeh gets more, sometimes a lot more. If Burnley FC intend to attract younger fans then no doubt they'll want a younger media team with "fun" or "viral" content that will alienate the vast majority of people on here. A bit like MOTDx.
Exciting times, presumably.

Re: Mike Rigg (and Darren Bentley) leaving?
Top bloke is Darren and am very surprised and disappointed with this move from the Club.
He’s been excellent for the fans (especially fans abroad). The communications and information brought a real connectivity to the Club. Always accessible, helpful and professional.
I think what helped in that role was that he understood Burnley fans. Losing that is going to be tough to replace. The Club has to strike a valance between getting g the best talent in while understanding and keeping links to the fan base - this decision I think they’ve got wrong.
Best wishes Daz and thank you for all that you did.
