Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Does seem very odd to have a trialist playing in the first team at this stage. I suppose though given how light we are in that area maybe it was just a good opportunity to get a decent assessment without sacrificing game time for others.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
It is an odd one
If it was to “make up the numbers” it would have been a u23, but they would have been named
Know the u23s have had a few trailists in recently, but can’t see one that could be potentially signing for those playing in this game
Only thing can think is that it’s somebody that we are very keen on or the deal is 99% done and we wanted to get them use to the team and way we play

Not sure just a loan signing that sticks in my mind purely from his name! We seemed to have a glut of loan wingers around the same time.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 4:25 pmThere is a name from the past. Didn't he score 2 or 3 in a brief loan spell ?

I remember one from around then (although not a winger) was Clayton, scored against Huddersfield think it was with a free kick when it seem to rain all day then seemed to vanish.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 4:44 pmNot sure just a loan signing that sticks in my mind purely from his name! Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Question, does a trialist have to be a free agent to play for another team ?
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Normally I would have thought so, Carnt imagine a club allowing one of its players to appear elsewhereCrewe claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 4:52 pmQuestion, does a trialist have to be a free agent to play for another team ?

I see Pieters provide for JRod’s goal. SD has a major decision to make between him and Taylor. Different skill sets and I won’t cry whoever gets the nod. We are blessed at LB.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Not necessarily but you would think it’s more than likely so close to the start of the season. But it could be a player at another club who we are interested in although then you get the risk of injury.Crewe claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 4:52 pmQuestion, does a trialist have to be a free agent to play for another team ?
I suppose it shows we aren’t where we think we should be with recruitment if we are playing trialists at this stage.
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
So we give Lennon game time rather than Mancini Gomez experience? Bizarre.

Underwhelming to say the least if we re-sign Lennon, would Dyche use him if he was only training with us to get fit?

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Not as disappointing as the state of the ground from the earlier picture and the failure of the club not to print a full set of programmes,
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
Helping Lennon get fit instead of 1 of our own squad? What a joke.

Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
I sense a one year deal coming up for Lennon, with the obligatory option of a further year.
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
I find the secrecy ridiculous. One minute the club are selling everthing re. friendlies thus giving them, IMHO, exaggerated importance. Next thing they're slapping D-Notices on them until after the match. Surprised we even got a report. For Cadiz it will be "sell, sell, sell".
Crazy and disrespecful to the fans.

I got told about Lennon yesterday and was told he wants the same money he was on In Turkey which was €75000 a week so if he’s played today a deal must be close

You could well be correct CT, if he does play against Cadiz, will that mean he'll play against Brighton?, I guess so if he comes through the friendly unscathed.

Always liked Lennon can still beat a man but surely 75 grand a week carnt be true then again no transfer fee involved
Re: Burnley vs Newcastle today?
That would be the only rational explanation for his inclusion, if not it’s rather bizarre.

Think about it, he has no club, he is 34, with what looks like no other Premier League suitors if indeed we are contemplating it. If he signed it would be absolutely nowhere near those figuresLongsidelenny1882 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 03, 2021 5:41 pmAlways liked Lennon can still beat a man but surely 75 grand a week carnt be true then again no transfer fee involved
