Great signing for them, but losing Grealish is massive.

They'll obviously miss Grealish, but Ings, Bailey and Buendia is a brilliant window for them

Even without Grealish I think they are pushing top 6
They have done some incredible business this window. Imagine if they get McNeil now as well they could have one of the best midfield/attacks in the league

They’re really going for it.

Seriously weakens Southampton, if Ward Prowse goes also and they are in a bit of trouble.

Will be very decent for the half season he’s fit.
Huge blow for Saints. VERY ordinary team without Ings.

Last season their entire team was built around Grealish. Without him they looked bang average. Signings don’t mean success.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 6:45 pmI can see Villa getting top 6 this season.

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
We might have to sell McNeil if we want to make 3 or 4 quality signings.
40 million for Dwight and is replacement at a cost of 15, with a right winger at a further 15, then a central midfielder at another 15. It would only see us with an extra outlay of 5, although the wages could be the stumbling block

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
It was a lack of goals that made them struggle without Grealish last season. Signing Ings, if they can keep him fit, will certainly help remedy that.

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
Norwich want 40 million for Cantwell who has 1 year left on his contract (with a 1 year option) and has hardly played at the top level. McNeil has 3 + years left and has played and done well consistently for much longer in the PL - bidding starts at 50 or forget itTop Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 6:57 pmWe might have to sell McNeil if we want to make 3 or 4 quality signings.

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
Buendia is an outstanding player and will do very well for them I think. Grealish of course a huge loss but Buendia, Bailey and now Ings compensates for it.

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
Saints will replace him with Adam Armstrong I imagine, been linked repeatedly and a similar type of player.
They best hope he can notch at this level or they’re bang in trouble.

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
Undisclosed according to Sky. Can't see it being £25m if undisclosed.
I thought Villa would be weaker without Grealish. Not really convinced that Baily and Buendia are an upgrade because Grealish is next level and that's hard to replace. Put Ings in to the mix and they're looking stronger for sure.
On the positive side it weakens Southampton but you assume they'll now go for Armstrong as a like-for-like replacement, in which case it weakens Rovers too

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
I think one of our targets is a left winger type. Maybe the plan is to bring in someone cheaper to replace McNeil and then use the surplus cash from the sale to strengthen our right wing and central midfieldVegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:00 pmNorwich want 40 million for Cantwell who has 1 year left on his contract (with a 1 year option) and has hardly played at the top level. Armstrong is untested at Premier league level and I really can't see him being in the same class as Ings.

Struggle? I’d bet on them for top 10 at a minimum, probably pushing 7th for Europa.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:08 pmSaints are now amongst the relegation favourites but Villa without Jack will struggle as well

according to my Villa mate and a few at Saints it's believed to be 30 millionNewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:04 pmUndisclosed according to Sky. Can't see it being £25m if undisclosed.

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
6 million to Liverpool from the deal
Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
Excellent signing. I’d read somewhere that Southampton were offering him a heck of an increase so it makes you think Villa have really pushed the boat out. Stay fit and he’ll be a top signing for them.
Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
As said above Ings leaving Saints must be a bonus for us and put them in the relegation frame now.

I'd be made up if I was a Villa fan.
Gutted if I was a Saints fan
Isn't he a Saints fan? He's got previous here (and I know 'it's a short career' blah blah) but doesn't it make him look a little bit mercenary?

Money above loyalty. Southampton stood by him when he was injured (as did we) and helped resurrect his PL career.

Re: Danny Ings signs for Villa
I like Danny Ings, but this is hardly the Man City move that was rumoured to be happening.
Not really a step up from Saints, especially when Villa look like losing Grealish.
