Deserves a new contract for his exploits over the past seasons.
Needs to earn it now by showing more tactical flexibility and overturning the ageing squad as soon as possible

Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
No problem with the length of the contract, and I'm glad the club are looking long term, rather than taking the quick fix scattergun approach which many others opt for.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:06 pmThe length of contract, and the fact that we are looking very shaky at present.
As many posters have rightly alluded to we need to overhaul the squad, and that process will take 2/3 windows before we see the finished product.
The arrival of younger talent is encouraging, but change won't occur overnight, so it makes sense to ensure we've secured our biggest asset for the foreseeable future.

Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
A very welcomed decision-I would struggle to see a different person managing the club.
Having said that he is going to have to work hard in a number of ways-getting points back on the board, restructuring the team over the next 18-24 months, and making us hard to play against and beat. But this is the very first step-so onwards and upwards. It looks like he has the trust and support of the chairman. In fairness he has shown loyalty to us and obviously the club means a lot to him

Surely you'd really enjoy a victory over Arsenal at home, regardless of the score line.

You may find this hard to believe, but I used to enjoy our solid defensive displays of a few seasons back.
I enjoy a good 0-0 when we defend properly.
We should try to get back to that. IMO.

Apart from money, and being nearer to home, why would he?claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 7:57 amYou realise he can still move on while under contract ?
His players are loyal to him, just as he has been loyal to them.
He's King of the Castle. A Castle that he has had a huge hand in creating.
Long may it continue
Four more years

Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
If he stays until the end of 24-25 season he will be our longest serving post war manager eclipsing Potts' stint from 1958-70 (although he did another 2 from 77-79) and just short of the 14.5 years of John Howarth.
That tells us all we need to know about how good this fella is. When he goes wherever we are, we are likely in for a nosedive sadly.
I for one am pleased but a rolling 4 year contract would be better IMO.

Liking the sound of this, hopefully the likes of Tarks will get an offer he cant turn down.

He can but he’s far less likely to, it would mean another incoming club would need to stump up compensation the club will be insured now for a fair settlement in the event.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 7:57 amYou realise he can still move on while under contract ?

Yes that does sound good! Perhaps Tarky could be convinced if his wage was increased sufficiently. Obviously, he’ll need a degree of confidence that we will be in this league next year though you’d think so it’s probably not going to be imminent if at all.ewanrob wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 11:26 am“It was looking like it was always going to happen, really, but the actual message being sent out means the players will know where they stand with me, that's for sure, and then the club, in turn, will speak to their representatives and see what can be done.”

Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
I think the length of contractual extension could be more defining towards the back end of next year he’ll be hitting 30 with depreciating value, I think he’ll go for the longest deal to secure his future & not necessarily short term gain.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 11:48 amYes that does sound good! Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
Just putting this out there but is Dyche under enough pressure to deliver ? He has plenty of credit in the bank and rightly so but he also has the security of a big long term contract and probably the safest job in the PL. If he loses 4 matches on the spin here his job is safe whereas elsewhere pressure would mount. I think it must help with his long term planning of the playing staff and the long term contract helps protect the club too.
Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche

It won't make the slightest bit of difference. The new contract gives SD more security than us. We could end up having to stump that compensation money for a new manager anyway and it is hardly earth-shattering amounts!... If a club is big enough and ambitious enough to attract SD's attention, then the compensation is absolutely peanuts to a club of that size and history has shown that contracts are not worth the paper they are written on. If a big club comes in for him, the contact won't make the slightest bit of difference and history has shown that.He can but he’s far less likely to, it would mean another incoming club would need to stump up compensation the club will be insured now for a fair settlement in the event.

Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
Clubs have wanted him previously but wouldn’t pay the compensation and that compensation figure is now considerably more than it has been previously. For whatever reason clubs don’t seem over keen on paying out like that for managers.BigChaCha wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 12:57 pmIt won't make the slightest bit of difference. Which clubs out of interest?
As far as I was aware he’s only ever been offered one job whilst with us-Sunderland- and they back tracked on that by going back to Advocaat

Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
Yes & no, it works both ways if the unthinkable was to happen god forbid & a wretched run happened & he wasn’t identified as the right man at having a go at bouncing back, because of the contract a hefty severance package would be needed to say goodbye, we aren’t fully protected in that eventuality but we are if he got poached.Boss Hogg wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 12:17 pmJust putting this out there but is Dyche under enough pressure to deliver ? Sunderland was a definite in 2015 and he looked odds on until Big Dik changed his mind.Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 1:28 pmWhich clubs out of interest?

There were clubs showing more than a passing interest when he signed his last contract and I think the comp figure has put clubs off.

Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
An additional reason is not just the compensation required to get the manager it’s also the severance that might also be needed to get rid, it’s effectively a double payment for what could essentially constitute nothing.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 1:17 pmClubs have wanted him previously but wouldn’t pay the compensation and that compensation figure is now considerably more than it has been previously. Re: New four year deal for Sean Dyche
Fantastic news for the club, for the majority of right thinking fans, and for the current crop of players at the club. It is also arguably good news for attracting future targets to the club, or at least the type of person that BFC require to limit the risk when laying out transfer fees.

It was certainly sung for long periods against Leicester.
4 more years 4 more years

Anti football
Playing football the Sean Dyche way
Replacing the 23 unbeaten version

Either way the most important thing is 4 more years of Mr Dyche, what's not to like!

I wasn't a million miles away.
However might not be 4 years in the end if theres another significant drop in attendances.
As the saying goes, the noisier wheel gets the grease.
