MOTD
Re: MOTD
Yes, they just were not interested in making any points beyond
Vardy and his goals.
But then it was Linerkar's team and he's no fan of Burnley me thinks.

Re: MOTD
And the expectation was?
It's a highlights show which the presenter is a Leicester fan, and they only have so much time.
If you want Burnley arse licking then you're going to struggle.

a total disgrace, smug disinterested pundits, giggling gobshite micah richards and the geordie half witted shearer.
linekar is a sort of billionaire puppeteer pulling the strings of a sham of a once decent football programme.
the smug ******* glossed over a valiant clarets performance and disregarded a great, great goal.
my hatred of these editors at the BBC knows no bounds. Utter **** storm of a show.

Re: MOTD
And this is the VAR still from MOTD which has me confused. The blue line is presumably the one level with the nearest point of the Leicester defender to the goal. Wood’s foot is on but not over the line then there’s some strange random additional pixels that look like they extend Wood’s foot over the line. What on earth is that?!

Re: MOTD
Under the new rules, it wasn’t a clear and obvious error though. The ‘onfield / soft’ decision was offside. You couldn’t really disagree. Had the linesperson not flagged, then I’d be asking what the hell has changed.
For what it’s worth, my extremely partisan, utterly obsessed and usually hard done to 11-year old son was fully accepting of the decision. So that’ll do.

Re: MOTD
Did the linesman flag? I’ve just seen the MOTD highlights but given how long the celebrations went on I assumed no flag.Cheshireclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 12:37 amUnder the new rules, it wasn’t a clear and obvious error though. Hmmmm the aforementioned 11-year old said he did………which is why he was somewhat philosophical about it. I’m not going to tell him if he didn’t!

He didn’t. My Sky app even told me we’d scored before relaying the VAR decision 30 seconds later.Cheshireclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 12:45 amHmmmm the aforementioned 11-year old said he did………which is why he was somewhat philosophical about it. I’m not going to tell him if he didn’t!

Because it’s assumed a goal until it’s reviewed & contrary evidence emerges, it comes up goal scored & then VAR checking & until that check is complete it’s not 100% confirmed.

So hacked off with BBC just sent them a message, not that it will make any difference but at least it gets it off my chest.
They really are a joke.
Match of the day content
Why is Match of the day so anti Burnley, they never analyse our games from Burnley's side, today a 2.2 Draw with Lineker's Leicester and it's all about Vardy, Burnley's Maxwel Cornet made is Premier league debut had a great lot of touches scored a stunning goal, not one word mentioned about it, we had a goal disallowed in stoppage time nothing mentioned about it, unlike all other teams, match of the day is becoming a joke with your mickey mouse pundits, smarmy Lineker, cheshire cat grinning Richards and Newcastle Shearer (probably the best of a poor bunch) we are now always used to being put on last unless it's against one of the top 4, sort it bbc because it's becoming a joke and puts you off watching, and remember it's people like us that pay your overpriced licence fee to watch a pre madonna love in. I am sure nothing will be looked at or done about it but at least i have said how i and majority of Burnley fans feel. Thanks yours a very hacked off Burnley fan.

Re: MOTD
Just watched MOTD and saw that myself. What’s confusing is that the freeze frame doesn’t appear to be the official VAR freeze frame with the blue and green lines like we saw for Salah’s goal. Why didn’t we get to see that on any of today’s coverage?martin_p wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 12:16 amAnd this is the VAR still from MOTD which has me confused. Watch goals on Sunday. For what it's worth I thought he was marginally offside I think they should give the attacker the slight advantage
Re: MOTD
I too thought there were talking points for us, the Cornet goal, the foul on JBG, var and Wood and of course Popes positioning for Vardys second. Not a whisper. I didn’t expect much anyway but at least some discussion.

Maybe even a tenner off the licence fee by way of compensation.

Relax everyone. Just seen Sky News and they only were interested in Vardy, Cornet didnt get a mention there either.
To make matters worse, for accuracy' s sake, the clueless reporter stated that Sam Billings scored for Bournemouth! It certainly looked like Philip Billing to me!

I know someone who drove 20 miles to a radio station in Preston to confront a presenter who cut him off during a phone in.He waited for over a hour in the cold for the presenter to leave the building only to be told he was broadcasing from a studio in Manchester.

Sounds like the usual bell-enderey from Lineker and Co. I haven’t watched this Shoite for years, and don’t plan to again anytime soon. Absolutely appalling coverage of a “league”, that has 20 teams, not 7.

Re: MOTD
I share other fans disappointment about the lack of coverage of Cornet's superb goal, but if there is some mitigation, it is that it was an exceptional day of PL games, with some top fixtures, a feast of goals, many incidents / talking points, and some spectacular finishing. (Oh, and Vardy did score 3!)
Villa won at Old Trafford, Brentford scored 3 against Liverpool, the Leeds game was full of goalmouth incident and flowing play.
Even the last game to be shown (Watford / Newcastle) was a very lively affair, and could have finished with about 8 goals.
There was a lot to cram in. Cornet's goal SHOULD have been mentioned though.

It should have been more worthy of comment than ‘Jamie Vardy is good at scoring goals isn’t he’.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 10:12 amThere was a lot to cram in. Cornet's goal SHOULD have been mentioned though.

Re: MOTD
The punditry is lazy and quite poor - there’s a lot of in-jokes and back-slapping about the goalscoring records of the pundits which is tedious. I’d prefer a more ‘high brow’ highlights show personally, but I guess Sky’s match coverage ticks this box.
I don’t have a particular problem about our coverage yesterday though, we got a decent chunk of time. The analysis after rightly focussed on Vardy who scored three times and for each team. Had we been one of the earlier games we probably would have had more analysis but they can’t do that for every game. I would have liked to have seen the Wood decision more clearly, but again I don’t want to watch a highlight package that scrutinises every single VAR decision.

Re: MOTD
Most sports punditry from the BBC is embarrassing in the extreme - they are more concerned in ticking the racial/minority/region/gender etc boxes than in employing people based on the 2 key criteria needed -
- An in-depth knowledge of the game
- Literate
If the pundit is a bit of a "character" then they think it makes up for it

Soccer Saturday has been spoiled by the same approach. The pundits on there can barely string a sentence together these days. Re: MOTD
To much punditry not enough action, FFS anyone but anyone can talk about a passage of play and say what should have happened or did happen, it's not just the BBC though it's becoming more about the chummy pundits these days and less about the football.

Re: MOTD
Where has this MOTD dislike of Burnley come from.
They didn’t have time yesterday to speak too much about either sides, to be fair Vardy did get a hat trick and it showed we should have defended better.
Of greater significance for us was the cracking goal from Cornet and the fact he is now on the sick list!
