Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Watching the Arsenal Leeds game and Maitland-Niles is really impressing in midfield. If we could get him and Ross Barkley on loan that would be a decent central midfield
Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Would much prefer Mount and Foden , which is about as realistic

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Maitland-Niles stayed after a chat with Arteta, who promised him more game time.
So far he's barely had any, starting just once and the rest coming on late in the 2nd half.
Very realistic chance he will want to move in January at this rate.
I think his contract runs out in 2023

Mainland niles is bang on what we need. Physical presence with quality in midfield. Whether he has the attitude or not I don’t know, but it’s promising that he just wants to play.
Barkley is interesting if he is up for it...

It’s like interacting with kids on this board. Rather than having a discussion or debate it’s insults or sarcasm from the majority of posters. It’s becoming pointless contributing anymore.

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Do you honestly think that we could possibly get both Maitland Niles and Ross Barkley on loan?

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Yes I do and to be honest we need to. That area of the field is seriously lacking.
You may not have dished insults but others do and there is no need for it. I don’t see the need for sarcasm either to a perfectly sensible question/observation.
Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
I share your dislike of anyone that resorts to insults, but what you see as a sensible question, In my opinion is rather optimistic! But if it ever happened they would be a formidable pairing.

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
I bet you didn't think we had a chance of signing Ian Wright at the time either
Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
I think signing a 36 year old striker wasn’t as big a shock, as is would be signing 2 Arsenal players in there prime.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 10:27 pmI bet you didn't think we had a chance of signing Ian Wright at the time either

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Really?
It was the biggest shock signing I have seen at the club in 35 years. A player who won the Premier league golden boot. We were in the 3rd tier.
Now these two are decent players but not in the 100 top Premier league players right now.

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Not really seen AMN play enough to have a real opinion on him.
Barkley would be a great addition for us. I just don't know how you best deploy him. I always thought he played best at Everton when he was playing deeper but people who I have spoken with seem to want to deploy him as an attacking mid in a 3.

I’m trying to think who an equivalent signing would be nowadays in terms of a shock.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 10:51 pmReally?

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Confirmed by the font of all knowledge (BFC wise) - CT
However, he did not say whether we turned this approach down because of financial terms or whether SD just didn't fancy him
I doubt we will be getting either in Jan

Defour was the biggest shock for me.

Crouchy was even bigger

More chance of getting Starsky & Hutch
Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
They would fit our age profile
What are Hinge and Bracket up to at the moment ?
Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
These two are exactly the types of player that Newcastle will need to bridge to the summer transfer window. Add in Tarks who we’re convinced is going there!

Personally would be very happy about Maitland Niles signing......for Newcastle. Very overated imho.
Would like Barkley though

How about Flanders and Swan to keep the "singing" organised?

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Jon Walters at the time was a massive signing to match Ian Wright and had it not been for his bad luck with injuries I think he could have gone down as one of our all time greatsBordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 7:33 amI’m trying to think who an equivalent signing would be nowadays in terms of a shock.

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
I think the reality of the Xmas window will depend on where we are in the league
And if we are still in touch, then getting players in who also won't interest Newcastle will be a struggle
And I'd still sell Tarks for £25 million at Xmas if Newcastle want to offer it

Barkley is too fond of the London nightlife we don't need another Drinkwater.

Wages being the stumbling block for clubs that would have took him on, Chelsea have shot themselves in the foot wanting to offload players but making things so cosy at Stamford bridge that other clubs find it difficult to anywhere near match.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 2:00 pmHe was offered to a lot of clubs at a seriously low fee. You still need to cover the wages or some sort of a percentage they will only go so far?

Re: Barkley & Maitland-Niles
Which can only suggest 1 thing Chelsea do/did want him to leave but it only reinforces what I earlier posted RB is on such a good number at Stamford bridge he himself doesn’t want to leave same as RLC he could have left as well but didn’t want to, I don’t blame them for doing the minimum whilst being rewarded handsomely, people are incentivised not to do any different.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 3:02 pmI've said it how it was - up to you whether you choose to believe it.

I think the word ‘fee’ is confusing. Loan fee, doesn’t include wages normally.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 3:02 pmI've said it how it was - up to you whether you choose to believe it.

I don’t think we would…Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 3:35 pmEven at this ridiculously low fee it’s sounds a win win no brainer for some clubs. Had Barkley wanted to come to Burnley we would have accepted him.
