Attendance tonight
15 years ago this would of been a massive glamour tie and it would be a sell out, how times have changed having played all these big teams season after season, the magic of the big clubs has become the norm for us.
Anyway what we thinking for tonight ?
I’ll say 13k.

Re: Attendance tonight
The seating tracker online has more red sections than I’d have expected but would guess tomething similiar to yours of around 12-13k. I presume Spurs have sold their allocation.
Re: Attendance tonight
Was plenty in the ticket office yesterday. I'll say 14/15 thousand, being half term will help.
Re: Attendance tonight

Shame to see quite a bug increase on ticket prices if purchased on the day of the game.
I know it was advertised, but with half term , weather set fair, I'm sure a few will have decided to go on last minute, if home from work early and/or other plans had fallen through.

When we played Spurs in the league Cup around 20yrs ago and won 2-1. Davis and Blake?
The crowd was around 10k.

Re: Attendance tonight
I think the myth that all the Lancashire clubs have about having thousands of fans who would turn up if prices were cheaper/team more successful/more attractive is well and truly shot now isn't it?
Re: Attendance tonight
Nah, if the club had charged £30 aduots and £20 for kids for the Rochdale game, I'd suggest the gate would have been halved, and I'd say the same goes for tonight.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 2:17 pmI think the myth that all the Lancashire clubs have about having thousands of fans who would turn up if prices were cheaper/team more successful/more attractive is well and truly shot now isn't it?
I've had 15 people who wouldn't normally have attended come on with me in both these cup games, and I can tell you categorically its down to the price, not the opposition or competition.
( a few don't even support Burnley)
They see it as a chance to watch live football with their children for an affordable price.
Edit - to add I've only gone on for similar reasons due to the price, double the ticket costs, and me and the family go out for the day, instead of just me and the lad simply going on the Turf, on what is normally a drab affair even in the league, never mind the cups where we seem (usually) to be even worse.

But if we can't fill the turf for a game v Spurs at the prices charged, then the fan base just isn't there

Probably right but a 33% match day increase could help make the decision.
Or have we got it 33% cheaper booking in advance

Re: Attendance tonight
I think it is, sadly its the whole package needed to fill the ground.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 2:32 pmoh, both my kids are going with me, and only one comes normally

We rarely ever hit all the things needed to fill it.
For some games people would pay 1k a ticket, for others they wouldn't pay £5. Its a balancing act with price, day/time, entertainment, opposition, prize at stake etc.
But for most games, getting the price right is the first hurdle.
An extra 2k fans on by getting the price right can easily mean £50k more coming in, not to add the possibility of returning custom later down the line.
Re: Attendance tonight
Price is definitely a factor, but lots of people have just simply lost interest, got used to watching every game on a dodgy stream etc. Once people get out of the habit it's very hard to get them back.

We have had it where season ticket holders could bring someone for free and still people wouldn't go. The list of excuses sometimes as you say is very long rather than just saying I don't want to go on.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 2:54 pmThing is, people will always have an excuse not to go if they don't really want to go

And I'm not suggesting yourself ( just going off your name ) but they'll be quite a few clarets who live a distance away from the town, so logistically it's much much tougher getting to midweek games, therefore may give it a swerve in the cup comps where an extra financial outlay is required before factoring in work, travel expenses and the much later arrival back home.
I live a 30 minutes walk to the Turf, but midweek night matches are always a rush for me, and that's not taking into account me having to rearrange my usual midweek routine.

These low attendances will have an impact on sponsors as well as match day revenue.

most people, especially those that only go now and again go because they like to be entertained. Watching us chase shadows in a large proportion if games isn't that much fun and doesn't help. Hopefully we can scrape by this season and add to the likes of Cornet - the football on view will bring people back if the prices are ok

Its an hour long trip there and back for us, but I'd absolutely had it with the no crowd games and being able to watch every game on the TV.
Sure that doesn't apply to all though!

Re: Attendance tonight
So, I'd agree that an attendance similar to the Rochdale game (just under 10,000) would be poor tonight but if we get around 13,000 then that's not far away from what you'd hope. That with us winning one game at home (against Rochdale) since the end of January.

I've got tickets but won't be going. I'll be honest, I'm concerned about the escalating levels of Covid cases. I'd personally feel a lot happier if the board took the initiative and made mask wearing compulsory and obligatory introduced the Vaccination Passport. I no it wouldn't suit everybody but thats how I feel.

Re: Attendance tonight
I think the fact that we've not been able to go for a season and a half should mean people are not as annoyed at our run of results as they should be, but there is no doubt that people are just not going for whatever reason, and I want to make it clear that I fully get that, even if I don't agree with itGoody1975 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 3:51 pmSo, I'd agree that an attendance similar to the Rochdale game (just under 10,000) would be poor tonight but if we get around 13,000 then that's not far away from what you'd hope. A ST in the CF is 15 quid a game and just less than a fiver for kids.
We normally play reserves or terrible.
I used to attend most cup games but unless it's a lower league ground I don't bother now as our attitude to them over the last few years has been poor.
Let's hope all the new fans/young Clarets enjoy their night though and come back.

I’ve got tickets just now but they are just QR codes in an email. Do I need to do anything at ticket desk or will someone scan them on the turnstile? Sorry not done this before.

Re: Attendance tonight
You'll scan them at the turnstile but prior to getting in you'll faff with your phone for five minutes holding everybody up behind you.
Glad to help.
**Ideally print the QR Code out (try not to crease it) and it'll be quicker for you.

I get your concerns about the rising levels of Covid,I spent the day in Edinburgh last Saturday,we have to wear masks up here....but everywhere I went to ..Pubs,a Restaurant a Concert and a 40/50 mile train journey home....less than half the people wore masks,I'm shocked at the total disregard for the law....no wonder its spreading rapidly.....people think its gone away...some deny it exists.ashtonlongsider wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 3:55 pmI've got tickets but won't be going. Minus one tonight wasn't going to go but the family persuaded me to go ... so I will be there as a tribute to our kid ... his seat won't be empty as my m8 Andy is moving down from Row P or wherever it is he sits ... and hopefully we can get a result for Martin
Missing on Saturday for the Brentford match, as we are in Bradford on a Theatre Trip (booked over 18 months ago pre lockdown and its finally come round)

Re: Attendance tonight
I’d go tonight but:
a) it’s a heck of a long drive with another match Saturday
b) it’s Dyche in a cup (though given our league position and injuries even I can feel pragmatic about this one tonight)
c) the general facilities are a deterrent as Pace acknowledges, if I turn up after a long drive at 7pm I can't get anything decent to eat in the town due to time, and can’t get anything decent to eat on the Turf full stop.
So I think its a stretch to say tonights crowd is a reflection on our fanbase - if this was to be a full strength side with decent refreshments I’d come for sure, and I bet I’m not the only one.

We are in the last 16 of the League Cup against Spurs and it was £15 for my ticket ...in all seriousness if that isn't enough to get enough people to go on I'm not sure what would be. I paid £16.50 last week to stand in the wet watching St Albans beat Corinthian Casuals in an FA Cup Replay.

There will be four of us (season ticket holders) at the game v Brentford on Saturday. None of the four will be attending tonight. I have choir practice (Colne Orpheus Glee Union - come and join us, Christ Church, Colne at 7.30 p.m.!), the others are not interested but we may apply for tickets for the League Cup Final at Wembley (unless we draw Man City in the next round or two !!)
