Re: Cornet
Big worry this as had to be helped to the dressing room. If we lose him for a few weeks it could be disasterous,. In saying that it may prevent him going to the Africa Cup of Nations so an injury may mean he actually misses less Burnley games..

But that would be such a shame for him, and his profile as a Burnley player.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 6:57 pmBig worry this as had to be helped to the dressing room. Re: Cornet
He's our only creative source, so of course it's a worry.
Just hope it's not as bad as it seemed.

Re: Cornet
Didn't he limp off at Leicester as well, but recovered fairly quickly?
Re: Cornet
It's a slight posterior neck strain, apparently. He's never seen the ball whacked so high over his head before, Dyche said, but if he gets the details right he'll be back on the grass soon.
We proper don't look like scoring a goal without him, though, do we!?

According to Dean Saunders on Talk-sport looks like he’s got a thigh strain out for minimum of 3 weeks.

Re: Cornet
Pulled thigh. Sounds like a month at least. Let’s hope it’s like the last one - can’t see it though after he was helped off and down the tunnel.
Can’t believe it - we’ve bought a brilliant player who has hardly ever missed a game in league 1 and the champions league for 3 or 4 years, only for him to start getting injured here as if his name is Robbie ******* Brady.

Re: Cornet
Yesterday could prove to be very costly for us, not merely the defeat, but Cornet potentially being out for several weeks.
One of those days when everything that could go wrong did go wrong, JBG hits the post in the early stages, then Max goes off, finally to compound our woes Pope inexplicably spills a high ball, and we ship an incredibly soft goal.

Re: Cornet
I think the conditions must have something to do with it but when he’s playing as a striker for us, the tempo must be a lot lower than when he was playing wide for Lyon against the likes of city.BleedingClaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 11:23 amHigher tempo football

Let’s hope it’s just coincidence that he’s picked up a couple of niggles, and he’s not injury prone...
Also, maybe some improvements can be made in our strength/conditioning set up to prevent players getting muscle injuries so much..?

Can you put some quotes up as my French isn't good enough to go through them all. Google says French for Tampon is Tampon but can't find it on their sites.
Re: Cornet
Is Maxwel injury prone? Or is the cold weather a factor in him.being injured twice now?

Surely his injury will mean he doesn't go to the ACN so he may actually miss less Burnley games?SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 12:36 pmThis injury plus the Africa Cup of Nations means he'll possibly miss the next 8 games - January's window is ever more crucial

Let’s hope so
Re: Cornet
I don’t think he’s adjusted to our cold and wet Northern England winter climate yet. Might need more (and more intense) warm up time before each match. If this means a separate/additional routine from the other players then that’s definitely worth trying.

Re: Cornet
I think the weather (at least the temperature side of things) gets overplayed.
It'll be much colder in Lyon and the surrounds in the dead of winter.
The thing that makes the cold in the UK different is the dampness in the air. It's more likely either just (a) bad luck or the higher tempo of the Premier League. Of the five major leagues in Europe, Ligue 1 must be the lowest quality and the slowest tempo alongside Serie A.

Re: Cornet
Probably the two games in 4 days played a part as well. All I can say is I want him back ASAP but i wonder about the ACN thing. Will he get fit and then play there, or not be in the squad because he’s not fit when it starts - meaning he plays more here?
Re: Cornet
This.
Both the tempo of the PL (mainly transition) + playing for a more direct team that does more work off the ball than on it.
Add to that a new position, different pressures/sprints per game I'd imagine.

Tampon is a word used to describe any absorbent cloth-type product in France. I've been trying to load an example on here but I can never get photos up on this site. If i press on the pic box it loads an image before I've picked one then won't show me the damn thing before I post it!cblantfanclub wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 3:07 pmCan you put some quotes up as my French isn't good enough to go through them all. Re: Cornet
Ligue 1 is notoriously brutal & physical, he will absolutely have been on the end of much worse there than he has encountered here.
That said the pace and intensity of it compared to the Prem is way off. May just be bad luck!

Re: Cornet
Given the current situation does anyone really think the ACN will go ahead? And if it does how many players would go knowing what they’d have to do when they come back. I’m not sure but it all seems a doubt right now.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 12:36 pmThis injury plus the Africa Cup of Nations means he'll possibly miss the next 8 games - January's window is ever more crucial
