Saudi GP
Advantage Hamilton. Verstappen sticks it into the wall in qualifying as Lewis takes pole. Potential 5 place penalty if he has damaged his gearbox. Even if its not damaged he starts third.

Re: Saudi GP
Yep advantage Lewis. I said three times he was going to hit the wall and he did. Just pushed it beyond the boundaries. They cannot risk a gearbox failure so will have to change it. Looking like Red Bull will challenge the yellow flag incident so Lewis could still get a penalty.
Could be an interesting race tomorrow with several safety cars.

Re: Saudi GP
They set a percent for the Hamilton yellow flag incident in Qatar with Max et al didn't they.
The FIA has been a joke this season, so many pointless penalties. Maybe racing in all these third world dictatorial shitholes has gotten to their heads and they think they can throw punishments around pointlessly.
It's really ruining what should have been a good finish to a good season.

Re: Saudi GP
Another self inflicted disaster for Max. Great driver but until he gets that first title there has to be doubts.
Re: Saudi GP
Wow Max cocks it up and sticks it in the wall ... possible 5 place penalty ... Hamilton aces it ... the usual Hamilton hater suspects stick the boot in .
A week ago Hamilton went from 10th on the grid to win ... get over it Hamilton chaps is number one ... all this negativity just gives you heartburn

Re: Saudi GP
Botas really needs to earn his crust today and make sure Verstappen doesn't pass him before the first corner. Even if he has to tough it out and not back out, Verstappen won't. that's for sure. Botas doesn't have to worry about a collission but Verstappen does.

Completely agree. Hotta’s has looked rapid since the announcement he was leaving. He needs to show that pace today, earn Merc some points and help out his team mate.Firthy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 12:20 pmBotas really needs to earn his crust today and make sure Verstappen doesn't pass him before the first corner. 500/1 for both Haas' to have a points finish, if they can avoid the trouble there could be many cars out hitting the wall, so a slight possibility.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 3:58 pmF2 has been a mess this weekend.

I presume Bottas auto corrected to Hotta's? If so, Bottas has been awful all season and even more since it was announced he was leaving.

They have not changed zMax’s gearbox.
That could spell disaster with it turning into a dnf.

3 very close calls into the first corner, but they all made it through.
Looking like you cannot get too close to the car in front, so could be a boring procession at the front.

Red flag.
Knew pitting was a bad idea for merc. A red flag is always coming when a tecpro barrier is hit they need replacing.
Did Toto not watch F2??

********, how can it take that long to decide to red flag.

If they knew why not red flag it straight away, I'm not saying you're wrong, but if you're right, why do you know more than the marshalls running the race.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 5:58 pmRed flag.

A bit like 20 20 being won by the toss of a coin, F1 seems to be won by the stewards, rather than on the track.
Re: Saudi GP
What a totsl farce. Corrupt way to hand the world championship to Verstappen. Rules need changing so no tyre change or work on the cars during a red flag stoppage.

Well, advantage Red Bull. Come on Max

Re: Saudi GP
Red Bull hit the jackpot. Merc need to try something different. Lewis onto mediums as he has run the required 2 sets and try to get past Max and gamble his hard set won't last 35 laps. Max's mediums were blistered quite badly so questions over the durability.
Going to be very interesting....

Many of these decisions have gone the way of Mercedes and Hamilton in the past, just one of those things where today it has gone towards Red Bull and Verstappen. With the supreme skill on Hamilton though, I can still see him winning this race.

They need to get rid of tyre changes during red flags. Especially it counting as the "mandatory" change.
It's never been a fair rule and has pretty much benefitted someone every single red flag.

Re: Saudi GP
If you look at the crash, one of Micks rear wheels punctured the tec pro barrier.
That section needs to be replaced, it’s a red flag .
I agree with the poster who said the F2 race was stopped as was the FP2 when Leclerc crashed.

You can change lots of things during a red flag, as long as it can be done in the time in the pit Lane.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 6:11 pmThey need to get rid of tyre changes during red flags. Especially it counting as the "mandatory" change.

It’s been the same for years, on the day a Lewis gets it wrong you want the rules changing.
There might be another soon as it’s looking like a static start again.

Lewis well clear into the first corner. Max gained advantage by going off the circuit. Hope they give Lewis the place he already had. Twists and turns....

Re: Saudi GP
Lewis also broke the formation lap rules, you have to stay within 10 car lengths.
Could get a 5 second penalty for that.

That was interesting, formation lap rules don’t apply so Max can hold well back so Lewis has cold tyres on the next restart.
