Any news on Max Cornet?

Post by gandhisflipflop » Sun Dec 12, 2021 9:55 am

Sorry if it’s been mentioned, but is there any news of Cornets injury? How long he is expected to be out for?

Outside chance according to Sean Dyche but I'm not expecting him to be playing

Sean basically said him and Mee weren’t serious but they would be more careful with him because it’s leg and muscle. Seems like he could be around the group at least for Watford.

It would be a massive boost if Cornet was available

Latest News

Maxwell Cornier has gained an extra syllable and, presumably, a new spelling of his name to accommodate the new syllable.

Having watched McNeil at Newcastle and today, hopefully he is fit ASAP.

Dwight really has had a dip in form recently. I'd have thought with Maxwell coming in, it may have given both Dwight and JBG a kick up the bum, although Max has been used as a forward before that's pointed out..

To me though, they've both gone backwards,. Some of the crossing today was nothing more than a hopeful punt in the general area..

McNeil was awful today. He held on to the ball for far too long

I don't mind if a player has a dip in form, that happens......but McNeil's defensive effort today for the most part was shocking. There was an instance in the first half where he didn't even break into a jog as the WHU player went down the wing. I'd have taken him off there an then, lack of true effort is unforgivable

We missed that bit of clever movement and quality from Max today. I’d be happy to have him back for Wednesday but only if he’s 100%. Dwight certainly has some talent and I do wonder with a more technical coach if we’d get the best from him, he needs to use his right foot more and start to deliver at the first opportunity rather than try to beat his man several times. Also use his pace and drive into the box and get a shot off. I think there’s more to come from this lad, I just hope it’s with us.

Yes. Loses the ball and jogs back. Simply does not put enough effort in

Maybe McNeil holds onto the ball too long because he has zero options/movement ahead of him?

Charlie has been carrying McNeil most of this season and I think Charlie actually remonstrated this today at what point asking where the rest of his team mates are while he covers the whole left hand side.
As much as Cornet has scored some spectacular goals I really do hop he slots in on the left

Even if Cornet is only 95% fit I’d have him on the bench against Watford to throw on in the last 10 mins if the game is in the balance

Hope Max is available soon, we've looked toothless up front without him, and have barely troubled the opposition keeper since he went off at SJP.

It’s annoying because maxwel has that something different and quality to get us the odd goal and win a game like today. His real pace would have given Dawson big problems, Vydra came on and made a difference.
Hopefully he’ll be back for Watford. Can see a potential Cornet Rodriguez partnership as Jay has been miles better than Wood recently. Jay is a good footballer just a bit slow.
