The most predictable outcome imaginable. At least fans have been given plenty of notice.

Re: Everton game postponed
I think when the season is called off, players and football staff should be laid off until we get another season going in August. They ought to be made redundant like they would be in any other profession when their role is no longer viable.

Re: Everton game postponed
Oh dear. That's four games we will have to fit in before the end of the season. Hopefully, it will help us though. Maybe Cornet will be fit and we will sign a couple of players in January to help us.
Re: Everton game postponed
Injured players shouldn't be in the equation.
These clubs have 100s of players on their books and should be required to use them to fulfil fixtures.

Re: Everton game postponed
The foundations were layed yesterday, it was always going to happen.
Once they didn't get their own way yesterday they were always going to "get more cases" today.
These teams would find a team if it was case play or award the match to the opposition.
Rule bending at its finest, coincidence they have a injury list as long as their arm, I think not.

Not only that, but by the time we do get a game, we'll be nowhere near match fitGordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 11:44 amOh dear. It's becoming obvious with testing that it's very easy to have negative or positive results depending on your requirements.MACCA wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 11:45 amThe foundations were layed yesterday, it was always going to happen.

A completely pointless exercise in these type of environments.

What an absolute joke. I sympathise with covid cases but it’s wrong when it’s just injuries. We could all see that they were going to be a few ‘injuries’ in training yesterday / today. Scandalous.

Re: Everton game postponed
Well bugger my teddy, who would have thought it eh ? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolute joke and they should now just abandon the competitive league for this season
and start all over again next August unless armageddon intervenes. Friendlies may continue
at the behest of the "BIG" clubs and we can just tag along if we wish.
In the meantime, just remember, If at first you don't succeed, try,try again !!!!!!!!!!
Disillusioned to say the least. Getting very close to packing it all in and taking up some other
interest.
Grrrrrrrrrrr

WELL IMAGINE MY SURPRISE!!!
Re: Everton game postponed
You'd have thought they'd have wrapped the remaining players up in cotton wool with such a threadbare squad. Further injuries, they must have been really unlucky there.

Everton fans absolutely loving it on their instagram! All delighted that DCL will now have time to get fit.

Everton's got 5 with covid out of a squad of 28 - absolute joke . What's worse , I've no excuse not to go to the in-laws on boxing day now !!

I can’t see any option but to null and void. They’ve left it too late for a break and there will be too many fixtures to make up if it carries on as is

I still find it difficult to fathom why this situation couldn't have been resolved last Monday when all the managers met remotely. It was obvious what was going to happen, no 'hindsight is a wonderful thing' about it.

Have to say, they’ve left the league in a right shambles. They should’ve just insisted all games are played or forfeited. Now they’re in a right mess.claret2018 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 12:00 pmI can’t see any option but to null and void. What goes around comes around, and all that.
When the league is pulled in the New Year, and clubs then owe Sky et al eye watering rebates, some of these players and staff will be wishing they’d behaved with a little more integrity. They’ll only be concerned when they’re pockets take the hit.

I was hoping we could face a week Everton team and always look forward to a Boxing Day match.
Complete farce.
Complete farce.
Re: Everton game postponed
When do the announce the replay dates? Presumably we will have to ask Everton when it might be convenient re. their injury situation? What's the odds that it's fixed for a time when we have injury problems and Everton are fully fit.

Let's not get into a debate about the illness, its not allowed on here.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 12:12 pmWhy it’s an illness for gods sake, they’re not criminals
The simple point is, when the season is pulled, the jobs of the players and staff will not be viable anymore. They will be unable to fulfil the obligations of their contracts. In any other industry, employees in this situation have either been furloughed or made redundant. I just wonder why this shouldn't be applied to football.
Edit - and that's before we entertain the idea that the criteria for getting games postponed is being abused at the moment.

Re: Everton game postponed
Carrying on with this farce is really all about the tv money. It’s greed pure and simple. Amazing how having shiploads of coin coming in alleviates the worry of Covid.
Football is absolutely bent as a nine bob note, and not one club in the PL has any shame over how they are manipulating the rules. Shameful.

They are still guaranteed their cash when clubs go into admin so I doubt that would happen.

Gutted. Got a couple of Everton fans at work. Took my Burnley mug in to wind them up. It all strikes me as 'covid' is being used as a crutch by clubs, an excuse rather than a reason.
How is it that there's been a sudden upsurge in positive cases? Lackadaisical attitudes perchance or just poor discipline? Seems that we're one of a small handful of clubs who manage to curtail any outbreaks.
It stinks of something and it doesn't sit right with me.

Re: Everton game postponed
Do you think the furlough scheme should be extended to PL footballers? We are already borrowing money faster than it can be printed, and your grandchildren will still be paying it back. You want to add these RIDICULOUS sums to it?ksrclaret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 12:16 pmLet's not get into a debate about the illness, its not allowed on here.

Surely when the contributing factor is injuries then we should be awarded 3 points and the other team done for failing to field a team. Absolute farce.

I bet its while Africa nations are on. If so we should pull the same ******** that this lot are.
Re: Everton game postponed
Needs cancelling. On a more serious note, they’ve completely knackered up our Christmas. I work in hospitality and it’s sickening what they’ve created.
Re: Everton game postponed
As I am currently self isolating with Covid, hopefully it means that I will be able to watch the rearranged fixture
Re: Everton game postponed
Hard to have sympathy when all those new injuries are completely made up.

I could understand more covid cases but how the hell do you get more injuries between yesterday and this morning when they're not even playing. Made up injuries to get their own way. Between this, diving and VAR football is becoming a joke.

I fear our team is going to be (inevitably) riddled with Covid when the time comes to play these games-in-hand and new rules from the Premier League won't let us postpone again

If Everton have a squad full of 'injured' players then is there any reason why we won't get the same 'mysterious' injuries?claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Fri Dec 24, 2021 12:33 pmI fear our team is going to be (inevitably) riddled with Covid when the time comes to to play these games in hand and new rules from the Premier League won't let us postpone again

The new ‘injuries’ must be hangovers from last night. Certainly not from playing !!!!!!!
