Re: Burnley v Watford
That’s a good date for us and makes the Leicester game now huge.
IF we could somehow beat Leicester, setting us up for that crucial six pointer, the season could yet entirely change. Make no mistake, draw or lose this game and we’re down in my opinion.
It’s the hope that kills you!

Just to add I think KO is 7:30
7pm will be when BT coverage starts

Re: Burnley v Watford
As you say it's huge. Despite our own poor form we've been given so many chances to rescue our season because of the poor form of other teams and here's another one.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 10:46 amThat’s a good date for us and makes the Leicester game now huge.

Probably good for us, hopefully it's as wet and miserable as possible.
Re: Burnley v Watford
Where people recently have said "must win" and it may have been more "must not lose" this definitely falls into that must win bracket.

...and, as luck would have it, I'm up for my annual trip back to Burnley for that week, so get to go on the Leicester game and now this one. I expect to be hoarse by the end of those two games.....COYC!!!

And as luck wouldn't have it, I have booked a gorgeous expensive river side log cabin in rural Cumbria for me and Mrs Guller Bull on the 18th for two nights. Hot tub and all mod cons - apart from any wifi or phone connection!!!!! That seemed really appealing at the time of booking.

Agreed - but you know what it's like when there is a game on and you have no info. Worried it might not be that relaxing a night for her

It rubs salt in the wound, when you have made the journey and receive the late 'it's off' message and then are away when the match is re-arranged.
Grrr!

...bad luck Ian. If it's a stressful experience and we don't win, think of it as a blessing in disguise that you'll have missed it.

If recent history is anything to go by it’s an early opportunity for Watford to break their winless streak and get a much needed morale boosting victory!

Re: Burnley v Watford
Lucky in one sense we are getting Covid cases out of the way now with just a cup game. If players or manager are asymptomatic that could in essence be a rest. If they are not it is a concern though (Pope still not training is a concern).
Our objective now has got to be to get Liverpool out of the way while staying ahead of Newcastle. Won’t be easy, they have winnable home games and we have hard games, so the Watford game may be a blessing. No point playing Watford if we are both 5-6 points off safety. The nerves then would make the game a lottery.

This is good, as it comes after the winnable Leics game ,is a bona fida 6 pointer , AND could give us a real boost going into the following “ top 6” games
Re: Burnley v Watford
Watford will have loaned a new team by then. Mind you all our new signings will also be available except for Maxwell of course

Re: Burnley v Watford
A huge 4 days in our season, if we could take 6 points from these 2 home games, then the outlook and mood inside the camp could be transformed ahead of the 3 tough games.
Shame Cornet misses out, but he'd have missed the original date anyway I believe, time for the boys to stand up and be counted, and show that they're up for the fight.

With regards to Newcastle in the grand scheme of things:
"Callum Wilson will have further scans this week to determine full extent & nature of calf/Achilles injury that could change NUFC transfer priorities. Hierarchy hoping for good news but early thoughts of 6 weeks have made way for concern it could be longer."

MUST
WIN
WIN
Re: Burnley v Watford
Yes there has been a lot of talk on here this season about must win games.
If this isn’t a must win, then nothing is.

The way Watford are playing now, we should hope so.
Our home advantage and longer rest should give us some sort of edge.
I almost laughed typing that.

Re: Burnley v Watford
You honestly think we can beat Watford with JRod as our only striker. We'll be lucky if we scrape a 0-0 draw.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 4:45 pmThe way Watford are playing now, we should hope so.

I feel confident about this one. Our ball retention will be excellent, with Westy (and Brownhilly) threading laser like passes through to our pacey strikers, creating loads of great chances.

Assuming this goes ahead Tuesday, as fans we need to be there, whatever is going on behind the scenes, whichever players are fit, and whatever happens, we need to be there, c'mon clarets from near and far this is our cup final, get behind the lads come what may, be there ! Let's create the atmosphere we all know we can.

Watford played Newcastle today, us midweek and Norwich at weekend ......we need to beat them.
Re: Burnley v Watford
This is so true. We are all supporters first of all. But we have different views, we criticise the club , we criticise the manager, we all have a player who we don't rate. But on Tuesday we need to be supporters before everything else. We need to help the team to win. We need to put everything else to one side and give the team absolute support for 95 min whatever the performance is. Re: Burnley v Watford
I think it might be to our advantage to have the Watford game
called off especially if we're short of some of our best players because of Covid.
They look dangerous going forward and are capable of getting goals.
Would give us time to regroup and hopefully get one or two in
and restart the season post the Arsenal game - if that goes ahead.

Weird watching Sky sports they said Watford's next match was against Norwich on Friday. A mistake or do they know something?
