If booed he will probably score a hat trick and send us down.

Re: Chris Wood, last game of the season
He might even miss the final few matches away with NZ on World Cup Qualification duties. Games scheduled for sometime in March but not yet confirmed by FIFA. He faces a hectic schedule of 3 games a week to get everything sorted for the Oceania Group before the World Cup starts proper.
If he's not away hopefully he'll be knackered.
Anyway I am sure there will be a £50 million striker ready to slot in.

Re: Chris Wood, last game of the season
Nothing to do with us now, and I doub't theres a person inside that stadium on that day that wouldn't have done the same given the stage he's at in his career, and the cash on offer to him.
Woody has been brilliant for us, and he's certainly played a massive part in me acheiving a dream of watching my team have a sustasined spell in the best league in the world. Something that seemed light years away when my old man took me to my first game in 1980..
I will certainly give his name a clap when it's announced as a thank you...

I won’t be booing or applauding. Will just get behind Burnley players. Plenty of fans put lots of effort into applauding ex players though when their main focus is beating us.

Re: Chris Wood, last game of the season
Can never see the point in booing a former player, it can only serve to motivate them to play better. It’s either silence or on occasion applause from me. For Wood it will be the former.
That said I did make an exception for Coyle (not a former player I know) where he was given both barrels of my wrath and disgust. It was great.

It would be quite unusual if an agreement has not been made that he does not play against us this season.

I would think it very unusual if there is such an agreement and I don't believe that it would ever be included in such a contract these days (unless it was a loan signing)elwaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 12:12 pmIt would be quite unusual if an agreement has not been made that he does not play against us this season.

Re: Chris Wood, last game of the season
Issue a load of red and yellow flags to the front rows of the Bob Lord and Longside lower. Every time a ball is played forward to Wood, all raise the flags for offside so he feels at home, in his comfort zone......

Re: Chris Wood, last game of the season
Don’t be imposing your morals on me. I think you’ll find there will be a sizeable amount of people who wouldn’t take the Saudi’s money. I’ve refused to visit, or invest during my professional career into KSA despite it having a detrimental impact on my own compensation. I’ve made my stance clear to my employer about this and called them out about their own policies around equal opportunities yet not calling it out when dealing with the Saudi Government.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 11:30 amNothing to do with us now, and I doub't theres a person inside that stadium on that day that wouldn't have done the same given the stage he's at in his career, and the cash on offer to him.
Newcastle taking the knee and the Premier League allowing this takeover highlight the virtue signalling rife in football at the moment. I felt distinctly uncomfortable buying an away ticket for St James’s in December. I hated giving them any of my money. I rationalised it with knowing I was going to oppose them and support my team in beating them. I really hope they don’t just go down but eventually football comes to it’s senses and bans owners that are sovereign states
or have the dubious history that this lot of Saudi’s have.

Frequently happens that such agreements are reached.StuffyClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 12:44 pmI would think it very unusual if there is such an agreement and I don't believe that it would ever be included in such a contract these days (unless it was a loan signing)

Re: Chris Wood, last game of the season
Saudis taking over PL Clubs, a World Cup awarded to Qatar, and players will still keep taking the knee with football commentators spouting on about equality in society and fighting discrimination wherever we find it blah blah blah. The families of the many hundreds that have died building the stadiums in Qatar will not even be mentioned when the first whistle blows. You end up in a situation with Newcastle Ladies taking the knee and the clubs owners have only recently given permission for women to take a driving test!claret wizard wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 1:21 pmDon’t be imposing your morals on me. Pretty sure that such an agreement is explicitly not allowed for permanent transfers.

Re: Chris Wood, last game of the season
Yes he will get abused .His sidey comments re comfort zone was a complete pxxxtake
He should have sweat blood and given 110% for the shirt
He let us down and Sean down who trusted him to score and win games not put in a string of weak, cba performances

He might get a bit of stick as he does a bit of “warming up” in front of the BL, probably about being a bench warmer.

Credit for your stance in your professional life ClaretWizard. Maybe you should have followed it through in your private life, would have saved you some money and a lot of frustration in watching our performance there

Next time we play them I'll stay in the Bodega and stream the game and drink the ticket money instead.Belgianclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 13, 2022 4:58 pm"I felt distinctly uncomfortable buying an away ticket for St James’s in December. Far better to support those in Claret & Blue, Wood has gone so time to move on, and back those who can still hopefully secure our PL status.
