Apple Watch purchase - help needed
Hi everyone,
I'm looking at buying an Apple Watch.
I do a fair bit of running and despite having a running watch, I think I'd be better placed with an Apple Watch, as I really don't like running with my phone on my person.
So my requirements are:
I'd like to buy the watch out right (no contract)
I'd like to be able to use the watch for phone calls/ messaging and card payments, without the need to be in possession of my phone.
I currently own: iPhone 11pro and paying £18 for unlimited calls/ unlimited texts and 20GB data (with EE). This deal runs out in Feb 2023.
Any suggestions as to how I go about this, what a good price to pay etc...would be much appreciated.
Thanks
John

The best thing is you are working the right provider as some do not offer E-sims which is what you will need for your new purchase. The e-sim is linked to your main account which allows the same number on your watch as your phone

So just purchase the watch from Apple outright and link it to your Ee account and away you go…

£489 on Amazon for a 45mm GPS and Cellular Apple Watch. I get an option of 5 payments of £97.80 a month. You’ll not get many great discounts for a watch by itself unless you’re abroad. Not sure about service provider bundles but that’s the base price.
Edit : And as said above you link your existing sim to the watch

I have an Apple Watch, it’s great for work and social aspects. But I would strongly advise getting a decent second hand GPS Garmin watch. You can pick one up for cheaper than an Apple Watch and they’re better for you stated needs.

Hi, cheers for this.
I already have a running watch, that I use regularly. It has never let me down. I guess the main reason I want it is because I don’t want to run with my phone, cash, card etc.

I get the money/card.
If you get the right watch then you don’t need you phone as you’d have GPS and music.
Good luck with your choices bud!

Garmin forerunner 645 music. Awesome watch for running and like blakesboots says, it will play your spotify too vis bluetooth earphones.
Re: Apple Watch purchase - help needed
Given your criteria I'd recommend the SE model with cellular, it has plenty of promise but cheaper than the Apple watch 6 or 7.
Re: Apple Watch purchase - help needed
Is it not possible to just run around and go home?
Re: Apple Watch purchase - help needed
I use a Garmin 45. Excellent watch.
Looking to get the Garmin 245 next which allows music to be stored on it meaning I won't need to carry my mobile phone when running.

I do that all the time - I run over 1000 miles a year so try to get a bit further than around the local park.

I’m looking to buy an Apple Watch for my wife’s forthcoming special birthday, haven’t a clue really what to get, I know the main thing she wants is to be able to see who’s ringing her when she’s out and about, god knows why.
Re: Apple Watch purchase - help needed
The feature that I most use on mine is to ping my phone (or keys via the air tag) to find out where I’ve left the bloody things.
