Sheff Wednesday v Sunderland

Post by ElectroClaret » Mon May 09, 2022 7:36 pm

Think Owls might just turn this around tonight, only one down. Home crowd might lift em.

That just underlines how big both these clubs really are, even well slumming in League 1 they can attract huge crowds.

Be nice for BPF and Wednesday to make the final, that way whoever wins there will be a Burnley link to the promoted club.

you wouldn't have thought a game involving Villa would have a low aggregate attendance, so one can only assume it's those **** poor middlesbrough fans bringing the average down.

As if Middlesbrough weren't already middling enough.

It’s feisty- wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of sending offs. Ref has let a lot go so far.

Yeah, thought they'd put on a better show than it's been so far. Certainly needs a goal.

It mentions a sell out of 34,000. I thought Hillsbrough had a capacity of near 40,000?

Good ball in and good goal. 1-1 on aggregate.

Parts of the stadium shut off at the moment ‘on safety grounds’ apparently, normal capacity definitely going on 40,000.

Barry Bannan looks miles above League One standard, really stands out among the dross.

you'd kick Mendez-lang out of the club for that lack of defending, doesn't track his man that barely trots back when he could have easily doubled up and stopped the cross

Wycombe will have a field day with Sunderland's goalkeeper, Sam Vokes to score the winner at Wembley anyone?

Re: the winner.
Hinchcliffe had only said earlier that Jack Clarke would always go onto his stronger right foot, as he burst into the box. Well he only went and skinned him on the outside and put that delicious cross in with his left peg.
If I was the away coach I would be very unhappy with the placements of the coaches quadrant. Moore is on the halfway line and Neil is just outside his penalty area. 75yds from his defence in the first half, how is he supposed to get his message to them?

Sheffield Wednesday were relegated on the final day of last season, but yes Sunderland have been down there for 4 seasons.
