Just to add this will be Tiernys 5th Burnley game, all have been away, he referees us less than 1 in every 4 away games.
You wouldn't guess it with his performances, but he might have his own seat on our team bus...

Re: Referee confirmed for Aston Villa game
Didnβt he also referee at West Ham?
Not sure what could be worse than the guy who is bottom of rate the ref. Arteta was fuming about his performance last week. On the plus side, he does at least have some experience and we have to feel for a guy who was born on Christmas Day, especially given he can never celebrate it fully having a match afterwards.
Oh, Everton after their whining have got Taylor. Obviously.

Re: Referee confirmed for Aston Villa game
Tierney the man who award a penalty for handball for Huddersfield at their place against Duff, the only thing wrong with the decision was that it was 2 yards outside the box and wasn't handball, other than that it was the correct decision

Re: Referee confirmed for Aston Villa game
In fairness to Tierney he reffed the Tottenham v Arsenal game really well. Arteta should divert his anger towards his players.CrosspoolClarets wrote: βMon May 16, 2022 1:21 pmArteta was fuming about his performance last week.

And we lost all 3, him being in the middle isn't a good omen at all.ClaretTony wrote: βMon May 16, 2022 1:13 pmRefereed away games at Newcastle, Leeds and Brentford this season

And the only thing wrong with that is the referee was Eddie Ilderton, not Paul Tierney.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: βMon May 16, 2022 1:30 pmTierney the man who award a penalty for handball for Huddersfield at their place against Duff, the only thing wrong with the decision was that it was 2 yards outside the box and wasn't handball, other than that it was the correct decision

Re: Referee confirmed for Aston Villa game
He could do nothing about our no show at Leeds and to an extent Newcastle. He could do nothing about our poor defending at the end against Brentford.
On the positive side we are more than due to pick up points with him in the middle.

Re: Referee confirmed for Aston Villa game
Oh, and it resulted in us losing, ended our 12 game unbeaten streak and also resulted in a red for Duff as he picked up a "second" yellow.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote: βMon May 16, 2022 1:30 pmTierney the man who award a penalty for handball for Huddersfield at their place against Duff, the only thing wrong with the decision was that it was 2 yards outside the box and wasn't handball, other than that it was the correct decision
But apart from that, it was an otherwise sound decision.
Not that I bear a grudge for decisions like this that happened years ago now. Oh no no no no no no.
Not I.

As posted to elwa - that match was refereed by Eddie Ilderton.Rowls wrote: βMon May 16, 2022 3:19 pmOh, and it resulted in us losing, ended our 12 game unbeaten streak and also resulted in a red for Duff as he picked up a "second" yellow.

Have we had an issue with Tierney at Huddersfield? Sure I can remember something about him and Huddersfield...

He failed to give the obvious penalty there for the foul on Hendrick.Herts Clarets wrote: βMon May 16, 2022 9:21 pmHave we had an issue with Tierney at Huddersfield? Sure I can remember something about him and Huddersfield...

Re: Referee confirmed for Aston Villa game
He was-literally- the only person in the ground who didn't think it was a pen. And that includes their keeper, who committed the foul and was 'very surprised' it wasn't given.addisclaret wrote: βMon May 16, 2022 9:29 pmHe failed to give the obvious penalty there for the foul on Hendrick.
And, like Rowls, I haven't forgotten.
