Preferred method of survival
We win job done.
Better Leeds result job done
Match Leeds result job done.
However it would be nice to bow out on a high, especially given this is likely to be a swansong for several long serving stalwarts.
I guess it doesn't really matter so long as we stay up, but it would be more satisfying to complete the job by ourselves, and not have to rely on Brentford for a favour, of course should they oblige it would be extremely welcome.
Just win the game today and we won't need to worry about what happens elsewhere, although these last day scenarios are rarely simple, so they'll likely be a few nervy moments throughout the afternoon.

I think if push came to shove I’d prefer both Burnley and Brentford to win very comfortably.

Whatever happens you can almost guarantee it won’t be straight forward. Im envisioning at least a period today where we are temporarily in the bottom 3, be it Leeds take the lead or we go behind.

Re: Preferred method of survival
That would be our ideal afternoon, but sadly I fear it won't work out that easily, it would be great if we were winning with 20 mins to go, and Leeds were 2/3 behind at Brentford, certainly make for a more relaxing finale, and perhaps allow MJ to give a few guys their final TM ovation as they're subbed.
Re: Preferred method of survival
Tortureous. I'm usually calm. I hope it's straightforward but it won't be.

There’s absolutely no chance we’ll see any sentimental substitutions today.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 11:14 amThat would be our ideal afternoon, but sadly I fear it won't work out that easily, it would be great if we were winning with 20 mins to go, and Leeds were 2/3 behind at Brentford, certainly make for a more relaxing finale, and perhaps allow MJ to give a few guys their final TM ovation as they're subbed.

We have to win. Leeds may be down there with us but have shown they can beat anyone since coming in the PL. Some will say they are without key players, but we are even more handicapped with key injuries

I couldn't care less if we only stayed up on goal difference, so long as we stay up.

My finger nails went at Spurs. I was down to my knuckles at Villa Park. Not much left of my hands to chew on this afternoon.
Burnley won't make today easy - they never, ever do.

I would like the Great wall of Pope to have a nice quiet game today please. A nice early couple of goals for us and Brentford and we can relax and enjoy the afternoon.

I hope we race into a 3-0 lead and get word Leeds are losing 0-3 very, very quickly. Let it be fun and relaxing rather than…what I’m actually expecting.

Re: Preferred method of survival
Agreed with this direction of thought. Hearing fairly early on that DL have shipped a couple of goals is the best thing that can happen and if we are 0-0 or 1-0 at HT we can start to relax a bit and get the heart rates and BP down.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun May 22, 2022 12:10 pmI hope we race into a 3-0 lead and get word Leeds are losing 0-3 very, very quickly. Re: Preferred method of survival
A roller coaster ride of twists & turns I wouldn't expect anything else from us.
Re: Preferred method of survival
We’re 4-0 down deep into injury time and then Brentford score a last gasp goal to save us and the Turf absolutely going wild and the players looking perplexed
1-0 win will do mind.
1-0 win will do mind.
Re: Preferred method of survival
Win. An early goal for us would calm the nerves and then one as we approach half time. I can see Newcastle scoring today so we will need a couple of goals.
Re: Preferred method of survival
I'd prefer 4-0 and sat having a beer watching Leeds score an injury time winner.
Re: Preferred method of survival
Not sure my nerves would survive the 90mins but what about a dodgy Barnes penny 90th minute.
Or a "suspect" own goal from Trippier.

Burnley win with last minute controversial penalty.
Leeds win with last minute goal seconds before ours.
Leeds relegated on goal difference

I think there will be many twists and turns and nervous moments
Best outcome would be a Barnes goal that keeps us up. Or has he done that already?

Leeds to win 3-0, Wood to score an OG from a dodgy corner in the 94th minute giving us a 1-0'er
Re: Preferred method of survival
We win 5-0 and Leeds get beat 5-0. Then we aren't tense all the way through and can relax.

Re: Preferred method of survival
My worse scenario is that Leeds take the lead and to compound the anxiety we go behind.
Then it will be one long afternoon likely to end in massive disappointment .
On the other hand if the opposite happened we could have an afternoon to always remember .
I feel we need to win to survive

Re: Preferred method of survival
Here goes. We are 1-0 down at half time and Leeds are 1-0 up. Newcastle score again early in the second half but Brentford equalise soon after. Brentford finally take the lead with 5 mins to go just as we nip one back. Leeds score in the first minute of time added on to make it 2-2. This prompts a pitch invasion at the Community Stadium We then equalise causing a mass evacuation of the pitch by Leeds fans. Order is restored at Brentford and Leeds score prompting another pitch invasion…..but in all the pandemonium it goes to VAR and the goal is disallowed. Tierney immediately blows for full time and legs it for the tunnel

Re: Preferred method of survival
Indeed there is, but I doubt the PL will even attempt to overturn a relegation, however if it's Leeds who drop, then we should still support them in their quest for transparency and compo, it's mind-blowing how Everton can blatantly flout the rules, and seemingly have no payback.

Re: Preferred method of survival
Whatever happens DL will score in added time. Without their late goals they’d be below Norwich. Hopefully Brentford will be 3 up by then.
