Re: Burnley v Toon match thread (judgement day)
Has to make the change at HT and get the Roberts / McNeil wing play back. That’s been our best attacking threat lately. Also cornet is never going to do anything up top, how many times does it need to be seen.

Not good enough so far. Let's hope for a magic HT team talk.

They should have a red card for that hand off in Robert’s Face
Barnes should have gotten a pen VAR didn’t seem to review

Re: Burnley v Toon match thread (judgement day)
Some positives to take into the second half
- Im watching both games and Brentford look the better team and have had a few chances
- We finished the half a lot better albeit with a scare at our end
- Pawson seems to be giving us a lot of soft fee=kicks and let a few of our challenges go
- We're a good 5 mins behind the Leeds game which could help us at the death

This is more like Crystal Palace (A) in 83 than Plymouth (H) in 98
Re: Burnley v Toon match thread (judgement day)
We're a much better side playing to Weghorst' feet, instead we go with this negative hoofball with Cornet up against 6ft 8 Dan Burn

Re: Burnley v Toon match thread (judgement day)
Stop whining about the refs, that's got nowt to do with our lacklustre showing today, and what's frustrating is ATM even a draw will do us, as Brentford are holding Leeds, yet for some reason we simply aren't at the races in our most important game in years, thankfully a goal for us or Brentford and things completely change, but we can't expect others to bail us out if we aren't helping ourselves one iota.

If we didn’t have owners with no money then relegation wouldn’t be the end of the world because there’s a hell of a lot of dead wood to clear.
As it happens we’ve already started to re-sign some of them.

Re: Burnley v Toon match thread (judgement day)
Long off and Weghorst on
Mc Neill on the left, drifting in to shoot, deep crosses to Barnes and short early passes to the feet of Weghorst.
Mc Neil has been reborn in the past few matches, driving forward, but that has nothing to do with playing on the right. He can drive forward on the left just as well, just as he always has done.
Mc Neill regularly started on the right, or he was switched to the right, before Christmas and that was partly to blame for our poor performances.
Other than that our recent good results were down to goals from some very low percentage to score chances and Pope playing out of his skin and pulling off a long string of incredible reflex saves.
Cornet on the right , where we should have tried him much earlier in the season. He doesn't have the physicality to play up front and go toe to toe with bid defenders. He did well early on because Wood sacrificed his scoring game to keep defenders off his back.

All down to Brentford now who apparently are playing in flip flops. Not looking good. Can’t see where we can get a goal from but who knows
Re: Burnley v Toon match thread (judgement day)
Can't believe we started a game like this with five defenders.

We really are playing like a league 1 outfit. Devoid of ideas, players out of their depths. I feel totally gutted. This performance has to improve!!

Re: Burnley v Toon match thread (judgement day)
Collins at RB basically means we have no attacking threat down that side.

Mbuemo plays another pass back to Meslier. If he’d held the ball the DL defender was coming across so quick it was a nailed on pen.

Re: Burnley v Toon match thread (judgement day)
I think it was the right choice. We were more likely to keep a clean sheet than beating Newcastle with our attacking game. Unfortunately, I don't think anybody predicted the potentially devastating hand ball. Still, on the upside for Collins, if we go down he won't be here next year. Despite quite a few greenhorn mistakes he has shown more than enough to book a lucrative transfer to a new club and Pace will be deep into sell everything mode.

Roberts' off. Weghorst on. Cornet left. McNeil right.

Sadly, I think our best chance is Brentford, today. Can't see where a goal will come from.
Mind you, I thought that this morning, too.
