Doubt we are signing 4 Congolese players. Probably just the two mentioned already plus the links to Cullen/Agyei.

You can definitely see why he was threw in at left wing back at club and international level.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 3:37 pmI'm not sure what his position is to be honest - he is very definitely neither a winger nor a striker

Nothing I’ve seen has changed my opinion.
Some great goals yes, but minimal contributions and a multitude of niggles and knocks regularly keep him out of the side..
Agree with this, fantastic output & contribution but Dyche could never fit him into a system. Needs to be high up wide in an inside forward position IMO with space to run into, no good trying to play in tight spaces he isn’t a footballer, starting him up too was bizarre tbh.
I’d love him to stay but I’m not sure how many games out of 46 he starts given his injury issues. I was amazed really as Ligue 1 in France is notoriously rough and physical and players tend to adapt fairly well to England from there but Maxwell seems to be an exception.
If is only going to manage 25 starts perhaps selling is the best call, he is best utilised as a squad player where his physical condition isn’t relied on week in week out.

Nothing lined up and didn't even receive a contract offer from us.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Interesting if true. As brilliant as Mee was for us, I think Kompany is wanting central defenders to do their job, but then get us attacking much quicker with the ball on the ground.ClaretFelix wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 5:33 pmNothing lined up and didn't even receive a contract offer from us.

Not yet “officially confirmed” but pic of Tarky posing in Everton shirt doing the rounds - not a shock
What is a shock is that he’s been given the #2 shirt

Kompany is doing a great job with these City boys coming in.
Give it a few months and Pep Guardiola might be interested in an assistant manager role.

Know it’s not to everyone’s taste, and some will prefer the standard “holding scarf/shirt” pic, but there’s been a marked improvement with the content of media recently.

Whilst I’m really happy with the signings we have made. We still have a long way to go yet. We lost 8 first team players and even with those we felt like we didn’t have a big enough squad. I feel like we need at least another 6 players yet.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’d imagine this means we are confident in landing Muric.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
You are forgetting we have some talented young players in and around the squad such as Costelloe, Richardson, Thomas and Dodgson, who are all capable of filling the squad.

There’s got to come a point where we stop letting players leave.
The squad needed a large overhaul, but the extent of it is starting to worry me.

Hennessey to Forest.
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
If he went to Forest he would likely be number 2 behind Henderson, so a strange one if this goes ahead.

Yeah not to replace Hennessey. I’d assumed Hennessey would at least start the season as #1 or been around as backup if Muric claimed it.
Wonder if we’ll get a fee for him?

Feels weird that Hennessey who is fighting for a WC starting spot would rather sit on the bench instead of playing for us.

Yep…. I thought Palace last year were over priced for relegation, but that level of squad overhaul delivering success is the exception rather than the rule.agreenwood wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 6:58 pmThere’s got to come a point where we stop letting players leave.

I prefer the Irish lad than Hennessey, he doesn't cut it for me. Get a fee for him and let BPF take the reigns
Re: Summer 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’ve said for a while that Kompany would want ball playing keeper for his system.

Assume that Hennessey doesn't want to play in the championship in a WC year?
Thing is, if he's getting a wage increase by going to Forest, then not too surprising to see him leave is it?
But this is quite a large turnover of players, and a few more to go yet
Going to be interesting if nothing else

If the latest midfielder links are on the money, it may even push Cork into a bit part role.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 7:08 pmYep…. I thought Palace last year were over priced for relegation, but that level of squad overhaul delivering success is the exception rather than the rule.
That leaves us with:
Taylor
Collins (rumoured to be off)
Lowton (rumoured to be off)
Roberts (rumoured to be off)
Cork (signed on but will he start with all the midfielders linked)
Westwood (injured)
Brownhill (rumoured to be off)
McNeil (rumoured to be off)
Cornet (rumoured to be off)
Gudmundsson (rarely fit for long enough to get a run)
Rodriguez (given two more years)
Barnes (activated at his choosing)
Vydra (injured)
Tarkowski, Mee and Pope already gone! I expected some turnover but it’s looking like the baby, it’s rubber duck and the Johnson’s shampoo are going out with the bath water.
The signings sound half decent on paper but hell, it’ll take some moulding to make a team!
