Bring back Mark Winstanley. Great on the ball. Pinged passes around for fun. Pace to burn. A true Rolls Royce of a defender.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I would now think a striker and CB and we are done. Wingers can be a bit up and down especially when changing leagues so it is good we have multiple - far better ones than ours have struggled to adapt, Sancho being an obvious example last season.
I’m very happy with Jay as a starting striker but we need the injury plan B seeing as we have lost Weghorst, Cornet and Vydra. Centre back I’m not happy yet unless McNally turns out to be a star.

The lack of activity now on this thread makes me think we need to sell one or all of Taylor, Lowton and Long to bring in any further new signings, but as has been already said, I believe we're 2 away from a potential promotion side vk has them earmarked. Although 1 to keep an eye on, it's reported boyate is on he's way to brugge, this could mean the Jack Hendry move is revived, while he's not the greatest, he's a decent more experienced, and more traditional cb, so one I'd be reasonably happy with, and one that should be doable if we can move Longy on.

There are quite a few players who we don't know if they will fit into VK's plans this season, that may include being loaned out for experience.
Obviously it's on record that Matt Lowton will find it difficult to break into the side but other experienced players may leave by the end of the month.
Matt Lowton
Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson
Bobby Thomas
Ashley Westwood
Will Norris
Kevin Long
Adam Phillips
Joe McGlynn
Lewis Richardson
Owen Dodgson
Mark Helm
If reports are to be believed then Charlie Taylor may be used to create funds for a new centre half.
I think there will be quite a bit of movement in the next week or so, possibly to free up wages for new incomings.

Westwood is perfect for this squad and we would get dangerous corners back. Not saying he should start, but with 5 subs he needs to be here.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I think Westwood could play the Cullen role if required. In fact Cullen reminds me of Westwood in his style. I see BFC are touting Charlie Taylor around for a £5 million asking price. Seems madness that we would sell him at that price to me.

Long and Gudmundson are no brainers to get off the wage bill for me, not sure of their earnings but guess it will be around the £60k mark per week for the pair, if we can get a fee of around £2m for the pair it would be welcome, longy would be perfect for a top end league 1 club. Gudmundson talented in he's early years with us but was short lived and not sure who would take a punt on him, Westwood I agree is perfect for this system, and the young lads we need to keep and watch their development over next 12 months and see if their comfortable with vk system, Lowton is the big question mark, I would prefer to keep, but depends where vk sees Egan-Riley.

I think VK wants JBG in the squad. If he can stay fit (big if) he would be a quality addition in the championship.

Yes. He is an established Premier League full back. Bit desperate 5 million but I'm not surprised as we've almost given some players away recently.

I doubt any could. the best we could hope is to make up the wage added to what any club could afford.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 12:19 pmWhich League 1 club could afford the fee and wages for Long ?
If there are any takers.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Perhaps a slightly controversial view and one that would see us needing an additional signing, but I’d be tempted to move Roberts on, if a fair offer is on the table.
He certainly didn’t work for us in the Premier League and I’ve not seen much to suggest that he will work in Kompany’s system.
I expected to see him offer more of what Maatsen has brought to the team. Either his instruction is hindering him in doing that or he’s just not the right man for the job being asked.
I don’t think him moving across to fill in suits him and his attacking displays have been somewhat under par, in the main.

I'm not sure your view is that controversial. Roberts hasn't quite delivered what many hoped he would, and we certainly have plenty of options at RB now, plus Connor is one of the few remaining assets that might generate interest and decent money.DCWat wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 1:51 pmPerhaps a slightly controversial view and one that would see us needing an additional signing, but I’d be tempted to move Roberts on, if a fair offer is on the table.

What would you consider a fair offer DC?, I'd bite your hands off for anything in the 8-10m range, if that allowed to secure a CB and forward.

Would be excellent here.
I’m afraid Barnes simply isn’t good enough anymore and it would be foolish to think that we can rely on jay to stay fit all season. Striker or strikers required
