Who is our best player at present.
I thought we were wonderful tonight.
I can make a case for everyone to be considered to be our best player at BFC.

It’s so difficult to pick one player. We’ve got great players all over the pitch playing key roles. If I had to pick one currently though, I’d probably say Benson. On his day he is absolutely electric.

Benson he’s got premier league quality and you see it nearly every time he touches it.
A few others are up there but he’s the best so far.

Re: Who is our best player at present.
If I had to pick at this moment in time then it's Benson.
But he's been 99/100 and so many others have been 98/100. That's how close it is.

If you're talking about most talented/natural ability then it has to be Zaroury. Most important to us at present probably Cork.

Yes, Benson's unplayable on his day, pretty much unstoppable at this level. But wouldn't like to start singling out individual players. They're all good.

Re: Who is our best player at present.
Benson is a top half Premier League player. I think we have had enough seasons there to know what the difference is, pace - his acceleration is utterly ridiculous at this level.
Having said that, it’s a difficult question to answer honestly as there are so many exceptional players here. Benson is the one that immediately came to mind at the title of the thread though.

Spot on. We take Benson off and bring Tella on and he goes and scores! It's like the opposition must be thinking "Thank the lord he is going off - oh crap he is coming on!"jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 10:59 pmBenson is a top half Premier League player. I was thinking exactly the same. Long gone are the days where we need to bring Josh Benson on and play him out of position in the premier league

Not sure cork is our best player? Surely your best player is someone better teams go for?
No one in the league above is going for Cork. Benson, Zaroury on the other hand will defo be attracting interest

It does beg the question what does 'best' actually mean in our team? Benson is the most dangerous. He's the player that if we were looking for a goal, you'd want him to spend the most time on the ball.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 11:06 pmNot sure cork is our best player? You could fairly easily make a case for any of THB, Beyer, Maatsen, Cork, Cullen, Brownhill, Benson, Zaroury or Tella as our best player this season. They’ve all been superb, although I think Benson just shades it.

I would like to add JRod to the list, his work for the team makes him a valuable asset to VK. It's no surprise VK looks to manage his game time to get the most from him, he's one of the best players in this league.BurnleyFC wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 11:11 pmYou could fairly easily make a case for any of THB, Beyer, Maatsen, Cork, Cullen, Brownhill, Benson, Zaroury or Tella as our best player this season. Re: Who is our best player at present.
I’d say Cork’s our most important player, harder to argue he’s our ‘best’.
Much harder to replace him from within our squad as it is now than say Benson or Zaroury.

Another shout for Jack Cork. The lad has a footballing brain. At this level, class. An injury or suspension and we'd miss him more than any other player.

Re: Who is our best player at present.
Most important player to us this season: Jack Cork
Currently the most talented player: Benson
Most potential: Zaroury
We are so much better to watch than I ever envisaged we could be back in May.
Honestly, this whole season is making me glad we got relegated.
Does feel like we are witnessing something special with Kompany. Could be getting carried away, but he does seem to have that aura around him. He’s so confident, assured and just gives the impression that he will succeed as a manager like he succeeded as a player. Just a born winner.

Think Benson would have had a field day against these in the last 25 mins, I expect JBG and Tella to replace Benson and Zaroury against Stoke.

For me the best player is the one you would most miss if unavailable and that without doubt is Cork. He literally is the puppet master of our team and pulls all the strings. Benson and Zaroury are massive talents but those 2 can be changed up from the bench if needed. There isn’t a Jack Cork waiting as sub

Re: Who is our best player at present.
Agreed.
Roberts is the most improved and I think that he has finally settled under VK. At full time he was chatting to VK on the pitch and you could see that they were discussing his positional play. VK loves developing talent and it would appear that Roberts is realising that he has a place in the team as long as he works hard and listens. Vitinho will have to play well in training to win back his place.

Re: Who is our best player at present.
Hopefully Vinny has a nice list of cheap Belgian wonderkids to step up behind him next season and learn from the master! Cork has another year in him at the top level for me (if we go up), even though he will be 34.
Hopefully we get the ‘succession line’ for this crucial position sorted this summer and give them a year of being the reserve to bed in.

Jack Cork is certainly my "Player of the Season" thus far. I think the added responsibility of captain has added another dimension to his game to add into the mix.

The spine is so strong
THB/Beyer
Cork/Cullen/Brownhill
I mean, the flanks are ridiculously good as well, but the partnership of the midfield three is absolutely key

Re: Who is our best player at present.
Glad someone has pointed out what I’ve been saying most of the season - the one who is most difficult to replace in the squad is Cork. Does that make him our best player - not sure?
I think Beyer has been outstanding since coming in and gets better every week - with all the goals flying in he goes under the radar
As someone has also said - Zaroury look to be the one who has the most potential to go a long way - I suspect Twine when fully fit and firing may also have us on the edge of our seats

That’s a good point.
Best in my opinion is the player that is making the biggest difference and who would perform the best at the highest level.
It’s got to be Benson.
Cork has been great in the championship but he’s not our best player. Easily replaced.

Re: Who is our best player at present.
The (great) thing is that our "best", most important player is rarely the same person 2 games running. It changes from game to game and is spread throughout the whole team and squad. One day its Beyer and the next it's Zaroury and another day it's Benson and the next it's Brownhill and so on. Last night, although I agree Roberts was excellent, I felt Cullen was our best player. On Friday it will be somebody else and we have to say that makes a refreshing change from it being either Pope or Tarkowski which was entirely predictable every single game.

I think Cork is an absolute Rolls Royce in this division, probably the best midfielder in the league. Better teams are unlikely to go for him as he's at the end of his career but that's the only reason imo.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 27, 2022 11:06 pmNot sure cork is our best player?
