Manuel Benson
Manuel Benson
Can't see anything on his injury. Anyone know??
Re: Manuel Benson
Hope this is more successful than my JBG thread yesterday!
I guess we'll find out more at the presser.

Re: Manuel Benson
VK isn't at Gawthorpe today according to the BE reporter Dan Black.
He can sit Ipswich away out anyway. Plenty of replacements.

Doesn’t say what the injuries are but neither have trained all week and won’t be playing on Sat.

About as useful as a chocolate fireguard. I am hoping the cards are close due to transfer deadline approaching.
Re: Manuel Benson
That West Brom man should have been sent off for 'doing' Benson. Poor officiating.

Ben Mee made these challenges on a regular basis. Hard but fair in my opinion. Shame he’s picked up an injury though.

Because Ian is a bit 'thick' and often has fnck all to do all day, it's difficult to work out whether he's being serious out not, he'd certainly be a difficult poker opponent.

He did play on for quite a while after the injury so hopefully not a long term injury. He does get bashed about a lot by full backs

Re: Manuel Benson
Didn't stand out too much on tv, but some of the angles I've seen from West Brom fan footage make it look a shocking challenge. Taking Benson out, it achieved exactly what the player intended I'm sure, but that in itself doesn't make it a sending off.

Both our wingers take some stick - too much. I'd like to see referees make bookings early in the game for it. I notice the WBA right back 'calmed' down after his booking for repeatedly kicking Zaroury. Then Z murdered him.

If I remember correctly West Brom tried to kick Benson out of the game from the first whistle at their place.

Quote from Ian "That is an ankle breaking tackle with its follow through."
No news on the broken ankle so I'm going for a bad sprain, this can take a while to get over

Bardsley, Mee, Tarky, Kevin Ball, Marney, Fox, the list goes on…
Our fan base loved these players making those sort of tackles, now all of a sudden we have lightweight skilful players, the tables have turned and we need to protect them

Re: Manuel Benson
Benson was an unused sub at West Brom. It was Watford and then Preston who targeted him.

My mistake. Getting confused over those opening fixtures. Still gets clobbered a lot.

Sit behind the goals and said at the time it was a bad challenge and the player knew what he was doing. Sure the sky co commentators either Hinchcliffe or Wilder claimed it was a good honest tackle.

Aside from being told that he hasnt trained this week, are we any the wiser regarding the nature of Benson's injury and how long he might be out ?

It was martyrdom at its greatest personal sacrifice.
Even the officials applauded.

The difference is, any bad tackle on Richarlison is a good one

Some news recently he was in contract renewal talks. Anything more than a knock might impact those.

Ipswich looked compact defensively we need to move them around more in the replay

Re: Manuel Benson
We missed Benny yesterday - he was exactly the type we needed in that second half.
Re: Manuel Benson
Don’t disagree although I’d still question if he’d have made a significant impact on that pitch and game. Too scrappy.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Jan 29, 2023 9:01 amWe missed Benny yesterday - he was exactly the type we needed in that second half.
