Musings
Why do some people take so long to set off when the traffic lights turn green?
Don't they care that other people behind them want to get through the lights before they turn red again?

In similar miserabilist vein...Why, when there is a queue at a petrol station, do some people take forever to set off and free-up the pump once they have got back into their car ?

A guy once had a rant at me as I was “using his pump” even though there was an empty one availableStalbansclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:35 pmIn similar miserabilist vein...Why, when there is a queue at a petrol station, do some people take forever to set off and free-up the pump once they have got back into their car ?
What he meant was I was using the pump which meant he didn’t have to stretch the pump to the other side

It's certainly one of my pet hates as well. On a side note, since Corvid, I have seen many, many instances of drivers double parking outside shops on busy roads showing complete disregard for the chaos caused to their fellow drivers.

Why the ++++ can people mot return their trolley to the trolley bay at the ******* supermarket?
Ok if you are disabled then fair enough, ask someone to return it for you.
But when trolleys are left blowing around the ******* car park smacking into cars!!
“Oh but I have children/elderly relatives/my spouse in the car that I couldn’t possibly leave in the car alone!!” - then park next to a kin trolley bay you absolute bell end.

Re: Musings
Urban driving is whacky races free for all, commercial vehicles such as vans parked near junctions are a bugbear of mine obscuring vision when pulling out, with carrying items & a lack of parking & the fear of wardens it's a problem not going away anytime soon.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 6:03 pmIt's certainly one of my pet hates as well. Re: Musings
Drivers that edge so far forward at a junction that all traffic has to stop to let them in. It must be a part of the driving test in the Bradford area!

All valid, but the drivers I hate the most are the ones that stop at roundabouts even though there’s no other car for miles.

Re: Musings
My biggest gripe are the people who don't stop next to the line at traffic lights.
That's where the pressure sensor is located which then ensure the lights change, it's also where we're told to stop when learning to drive!!
They'll then sit there wondering why the lights aren't changing....
More than a few times I've just overtaken them and stopped at the front of the queue, on the sensor, then the lights have changed and off I go.
Always guaranteed that they sit there calling me names etc because of their own ignorance

Drivers who don't know what the yellow patterned bit of road opposite a junction is for. Might as well do away with them.

Set off sooner? Depends if you are say, a district nurse, with a long list of visits and people relying on you. Lots of reasons why some people just want to move on.

Middle lane plodders on the motorway. An increasing blight on already conjested roads. Seeing someone trundling along in the central lane, sometimes no cars 500 yards ahead , no cars 500 yards behind, so no over taking due and they'll be completely oblivious to the requirement to be in the nearside lane and avoid everybody else having to go out the outside lane then come back into the middle lane, where they seem to be glued , then the nearside lane "where they bloody should be ! " Which is what I usually shout as I complete the manoeuvre. Extremely annoying.

Seven times out of ten, they’re sat with their head almost over the steering wheel - focussed solely on the middle name - with neither a clue nor a care what is going on to their left or right.1882Clarets1882 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:39 pmMiddle lane plodders on the motorway. Two out of ten, they’re sat there sending messages on their phone.
One out of ten, it’s an elderly woman who desperately wishes that she wasn’t on a motorway in the first place.

One of the most interesting threads for a while - and not in a good way - I just hope no rival fans are following it. We'd deserve every piece of shite thrown our way.
The Clarets are producing one of the best seasons ever, we're preparing a side that could well flourish in the Prem, great times.
Alright, the government are as corrupt as they are clueless but, hey, who gives a damn about stupid drivers or litter.
There's nothing you can do about it. It's a byproduct of the last "Bout me, bout me." political generation.
So long as you are doing your bit, especially if you're a parent, then life is good.
