No way should Burnley fans boycott it. It's what Rovers fans would want.box_of_frogs wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 6:01 pmWell said. Just need to boycott and tell them to ram it.

There's a phrase in life, "Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves", maybe this should be item 1. on the agenda at the next Blackburn Rovers board meeting.

Nothing to do with giving them an advantage, all to do with not letting us party in their ground. Winning that game won’t matter by then.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 8:14 pmI cannot see remotely what a boycott will achieve. The whole point is that Rovers are attempting to limit the number of Burnley fans at the game to give them an advantage and by boycotting you are helping them achieve their objective. Probably they would be quite happy to play in front of zero Burnley fans and they are quite happy to lose out financially if they think it will help them win the tie.
Best thing to do is fans and players turn up there and stuff 'em. None of this letting up at 3 - 0, get to double figures first.
Alan was probably wondering why they are known as B*s*a*ds, now he knows.

We wont be able to cut Rovers allocation at Turf as it is highly unlikely they will ever play a league game at Burnley ever again !!!

You're joking. Winning that game could be absolutely pivotal to Rovers play-off hopes.PaintYorkClaretnBlue wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 9:51 pmNothing to do with giving them an advantage, all to do with not letting us party in their ground. Winning that game won’t matter by then.
Their home record is excellent. Win all their home games and a play-off spot is highly likely.
in any case winning the big derby game should be ingrained in the ethos at both clubs.

Highly unlikely?
Perhaps just less than likely that we will play them next season, but on current form they will be one of the favourites in the play-offs.

Re: Alan Pace comments re. Rovers
I don't believe they think they will have an advantage as very few, with larger home support, seem to have succeeded against us this season. Sunderland being one, who most teams can't compete with their home support numbers. I think it is more to do with Burnley fans celebrating there.

Re: Not just us that’s unhappy
I do wonder why they have done it.
Fear, envy, embarrassment or spite are all possible motives.
I think it shows a complete misunderstanding of the football fan. If it were reversed I would be hoping we could stuff them and ram their “party” back down their throats. But regardless football is about ups and downs. Having some pain… like we did against City is part of it and makes you appreciate the good bits more.

Some haven't quite grasped what could potentially happen. Were Rovers to get promoted they'd be in the Prem just like us, and all our gloating this season would count for nothing.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 3:50 amYou're joking. Hang on a minute, if Rovers get promoted they will be in the Premier League, just like us???? Can’t believe that I didn’t grasp that. How embarrassing.
Re: Alan Pace comments re. Rovers
The point is, many on here are gloating about how we are on another level to Rovers. I'm just pointing out that we could do with saving the gloating until both teams know where they will be playing next season.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 7:50 amHang on a minute, if Rovers get promoted they will be in the Premier League, just like us???? We are on another level to them, there is every reason to gloat.
They may even get to the Prem, but doesn't deflect from how far apart we are.

Re: Alan Pace comments re. Rovers
We are on another level to them, everyone knows this and their actions this week show that they know it too.
If they somehow managed to scrape into the top 6 and fluked a promotion they will be nailed on to finish 20th, considering they have already lost 14 of their 37 games there could be a case for them being the worst team every to qualify for the play offs.

At the start of next season we'd start on the same points. We have a significant amount of loan signings who have been crucial this season, and may not be here next.
The Venkys have deeper pockets than our directors. And they have been prepared to throw money at it for a long period of time. Who knows how much they'll spaff away if they get to the Premier League.

With no travel restrictions thousands should turn up, ticketless, watch the match on phones and cheer us to a massive win.

Commy it's probably a bit of both, think back to the Reading play off semi final when they limited us to a couple of thousand tickets and there were swathes of empty seats everywhere.Commy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 6:14 amI don't believe they think they will have an advantage as very few, with larger home support, seem to have succeeded against us this season. What a glorious night that was by the way, one of the best Burnley goals ever by Patto, and the feeling that we had stuck it right up 'em.

Think those who are lucky enough to get tickets, should have a symbolic minutes protest at some point in the game.
Maybe wave the white flag, as Rovers seem to have done.
Or alternatively white handkerchief as they do in Spain
Could work and as always back the lads to the very hilt.

if they are promoted they have potentially unlimited funds to strengthen the squad. The Venkys are way richer then anyone involved at our club.
Re: Alan Pace comments re. Rovers
And this is why their decision is so short sighted (and it’s odd the police haven’t had more of a say). If thousands turn up without tickets it could get very, very messy.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 8:50 amWith no travel restrictions thousands should turn up, ticketless, watch the match on phones and cheer us to a massive win.

Re: Rovers away tickets
Isn't it more likely that people will watch the game at their leisure, be it at home or at a local pub, than they will just go to Blackburn to make a point?
Re: Rovers away tickets
For the vast majority yes, but it doesn’t take many to be of the mindset ‘if we turn up they’ll have to let us in’ for their to be trouble.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 10:30 amIsn't it more likely that people will watch the game at their leisure, be it at home or at a local pub, than they will just go to Blackburn to make a point?

My understanding is they're on the verge of FFP rules every season by losing 15m, going back years.
Newcastle had a blank canvas to start with.

The Venky’s may well be very wealthy but they have spent little on players or the ground / facilities other than subsidising the losses.
If they did decide to go big and start spending in the Premier League it would be completely out of line with what they have done so far at Blackburn.

VK and the team know exactly the best way to deal with this
Chatting to the Rover supporting team mate of my lad as I took them to football training last night, he's worried because their last three games are us, Luton and Millwall

Why have they hung in there so long propping the club up and throwing millions away if they're not going to go for it once / if they get promoted?
Of course it may all be to do with tax and other accountancy dodges, but I'm afraid that sort of debate is beyond me.
Re: Rovers away tickets
We had to sit back and take it for many years- we were in the 4th and 3rd division and getting some major hammerings off many who are now non league clubs.
They were giving it Loadsamoney, waving money at us when we did not have a pot to p in, all thanks to JWs fortune.
This suggests to me that their fans can give it but not take it.
Pretty shortsighted from them as we know the superiority can change quite quickly.

I’ve never really understood why they got involved in Blackburn. Not sure many blackburn fans do either. First few years was shambolic with the communications, protests, endless managers but it does seem to have calmed down recently.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 11:12 amThat's one way of looking at it, and it's a valid point, but my question is:

They have a complete lack of identity and culture as a football club now - other than a culture of apathy that is !

Or Chesterfield away over the festive period one year. I even rang their ticket office up prior to setting off to make sure the game was on, got all the way there to be told game off ( I did blag a program out of them though )
I went all the way down to Exeter too

Off at a tangent here but the sooner Rovers fans realize Jack Walker and the family are equally culpable along with the chicken farmers for the years of malaise and financial woes the better. The original plan was built on shifting sands with no real substance or sustainability

Rovers have been losing the equivalent of parachute payments every year for quite some time, these losses funded by their owners.
So in effect Rovers have been trying to buy the league for around a decade and are bloody useless at it.

Re: Rovers away tickets
When you talk of such comments, you are talking about a special breed of idiot. I have just this morning been told Rovers have been planning this for weeks and their plan to keep Burnley fans out of the home stands is foolproof… several Clarets expressing concern are being told as much on Twitter. They do not seem to grasp that areas like Great Harwood, Accrington, Blackburn itself are full of Clarets with friends that are Rovers supporters, or that Burnley fans have had to work several weeks at a time before hand to make sure of seats at games, by hook or by crook. You cannot talk logic with some folk, they have not the brains to see bigger pictures.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 1:17 pmI keep hearing how we are buying the league.
