I only caught the last 20 mins but he played exactly as he does for us. Although I never saw him carry the ball, defensively he is coolness personified.Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 7:02 pmJust how good is this lad, TT.....A very special future in the game.

Those forward movements with the ball make him a unique talent as a back four player.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 7:19 pmI only caught the last 20 mins but he played exactly as he does for us. Although I never saw him carry the ball, defensively he is coolness personified.
Imperative we make him ours for next season.
On a different note......those photos of yesteryear are so badly missed....Is there not potential for a new thread ?

Re: Beyer
Only watched the 2nd half, but your right. He only made one forward surge, that I saw anyway.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 7:19 pmI only caught the last 20 mins but he played exactly as he does for us. Although I never saw him carry the ball, defensively he is coolness personified.
Always looks really composed on the ball and, seems to have loads of time.

Re: Beyer
He’s a special talent. And those slaloming runs out of defence have been one of the (many) highlights from this season. Hope the rumours are true that we have an option and that we take it up.
Re: Beyer
Fast becoming my favourite player - he’s great to watch, defensively and with the ball at his feet. He seems to stroll through games and makes it look pretty bloody easy.

I'm probably being wishful, but wouldn't mind him and THB becoming the bedrock of our defence for as long as Tarks & Ben were.

Re: Beyer
Don't want this to distract from the Beyer discussion but we were heavily linked with Amir Hadžiahmetović, he wanted to stay in Turkey and signed for Beşiktaş.
I would think we will sign two central midfielders in the summer but that's guesswork rather than with any real substance to back it up.

We really want to be able to compete next season......not just making up the numbers.
The keeper and back four are so strong (Ekdal will be desperately unlucky to miss out).....but we must strengthen elsewhere.

Re: Beyer
We were all excited about his clips on YouTube (I know that's not always the truest reflection), he seemed to be a decent all round midfielder at a good age.Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 8:24 pmIs he Premier League standard, Goody ?

Was he Premier League standard? Impossible to tell.
If we can be as good in the transfer market this summer as we were last then we have a real chance, the issue is the bar has been raised as well as the fees and wages.

The bar most certainly has been raised again and if Ratcliffe is successful in acquiring United then we are entering a different world.......but, what the hell, let's be part of it in our own unique Burnley way.Goody1975 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 8:31 pmWe were all excited about his clips on YouTube (I know that's not always the truest reflection), he seemed to be a decent all round midfielder at a good age.

all day long we need 2 top drawer (as much as we can afford) midfielders, it's our glaring weakness imhoGoody1975 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 24, 2023 8:18 pmDon't want this to distract from the Beyer discussion but we were heavily linked with Amir Hadžiahmetović, he wanted to stay in Turkey and signed for Beşiktaş.

Re: Beyer
Cullen looks top notch at this level. Hopefully I’m wrong but I’m not sure if he will be effective enough at the level above.
Agree - midfield is the key.

Jimmy Adamson was the closest thing to Bobby Moore that we will ever see.......but Beyer has so much potential.
Re: Beyer
He is without doubt my favourite Burnley player.
The option to buy is an absolute cert on promotion.
Mönchengladbach's directer admittedly said it was out of their hands now even though they would love him to come back after his performances this season.
The only things stopping a deal now is us as a club not persuing a full time deal or if Beyer decided not to sign.

Re: Beyer
I think they have already come to the conclusion that it was the wrong decision to include any option. Hence the recent visits for some negotiations.
Just watch out for the charm offensive coming from Mönchengladbach for the rest of the season. Jordan has already said that it is going to be a tough decision coming in the summer as he has love for both clubs

Re: Beyer
From what I've seen so far I think defensively Ekdal seems the best. He reads the game so well which makes his job easier. John Terry like. He's also the oldest which may well be why he reads play better than the others.
Beyer is not quite as good at reading the game, but a bit faster and better dribbling forward. At times he's not strong enough.
Harwood-Bellis can pick a pass better but seems to lose concentration quite a bit off the ball. He's also a very good dribbler.
Al Dakhil has a bit of pace to him but doesn't read the game to well.
Given they are all so young they are all going to become excellent defenders.
A great position to be in, even if Beyer or Harwood-Bellis don't become permanent. Ideally we keep all 4.
I get the impression McNally is not deemed to be good enough on the ball.
For me it should be Beyer and Ekdal with Harwood-Bellis not far behind.

Re: Beyer
The pull for all of these loan players to sign next year is massive. ALL of them.
-They're more or less assured of 30+ prem appearances at their age
-They LOVE it here
-Going back to their clubs they're all (Beyer aside probably) not going to be starting XI
-They know VK will strengthen and will feel like top 10 or even top 7 is possible and likely the aim from within camp IMO
-Get them all signed with +2 CMs, same model but a step up in quality (so they're PL ready) and we're good UTC

He reminds me of Alan Hansen in his pomp at Liverpool. The way he carries the ball out of defence, then has a turn of speed. Very impressive.
