Where can you get the best fry-up or full English breakfast in Burnley / surrounding area?

The Cafe at HAPPA (Horse & Pony Protection Association) in Briercliffe. Great food and excellent full English.

I highly recommend it, well worth a visit, especially with the children.

Another vote for HAPPA but the Waggoners does nothing wrong with three sizes of breakfast.

There is a deli cafe in gisburn… that’s a really good one with excellent quality ingredients, but if briercliffe is out of the way, this will be definitely.

JJ’s is ok, but only just ok.

Best value has to be the colliers cafe (miners)

Crow Wood if you want to splash out, not the cheapest, but good quality.

Yeah, probably my favourite as well.

JJs is alright as well (old Dugdale) and Inghams Diner on Tod Rd.

I’m told weatherspoons is ok, can’t say I’ve ever eaten in one though and I rarely visit them.

Recently came up north for a game and brought a few friends; we went to JJ's at the Dugdale. We all enjoyed it and would recommend it and will go again next time I'm up.

Agree with you on JJs and Inghams but I would definitely recommend to avoid Wetherspoons unless your like raw bacon, snotty eggs and veggie sausages.

I'm afraid wetherspoons is NOT ok... thats not just a personal opinion - it's an absolute cast iron fact. Bloody awful. Crap ingredients, slopped together by someone who couldn't give a shiny one because he/she are paid peanuts to work in a hot stuffy kitchen microwaving the same poor quality processed slop all day every day.

Consistent though, i'll give them that. It matters not which wetherspoon you use, it's utter shite.

Buy it and cook it yourself. That way you you get what you want, cooked how you like it and all you have to do is wash up after. Cheaper too.

I travel all over Lancashire and I cannot believe the massive number of cafes who don't serve black pudding with a full English brekkie!
If they don't have black pudding on the menu, I walk out.
These places should be named and shamed!
Bloody avocado with lentils was one cafe near Kendal.

Fried black pudding is an abomination, and anyone frying it or eating it should be banished from Lancashire forever, and made to spend the rest of their natural life in the hole that is known as yaaaaaarkshire.

Boil it, even steam it if you have to, but don't let it anywhere near a frying pan. Bloody sacrilege is that...

Fried in a little olive oil is Bob on.

Just a minute each side if sliced.

Went to town gate cafe in gt Harwood this morning after a recommendation.

Won’t be listening to him again…

Ingredients not great quality, beans cold.

Where Wetherspoons would be a consistent 2/10, this place would be 4/10. Colliers cafe (miners) 7/10, JJ’s would be 7.5/10. Deli cafe at gisburn would be 8.5/10 and the clubhouse at Kelbrook shooting lodge is 9/10.

The black pudding you get with a fried breakfast is always disappointing, but better than nothing.

Down here they are unaware of anything other than the sliced and fried variety and they all eat it dry. They look at you as if you are stupid if you ask for vinegar or mustard

For some reason the English breakfast wasn't available.

Fried bread seems to have disappeared from the traditional breakfast dish.

For those who have not experienced this culinary delight you have truly missed out. However, it's not something that forms part of a calorie controlled diet.

The only place I have seen Fried bread in the last 20 years was in the East and South East regions.
On the A1 and then at the Searles site we were staying.

Unfortunately fried bread has been replaced by that insidious McDonalds invention the hash brown. As far as heart attack material is concerned, providing the oil is at a high enough temperature then the bread will absorb less than that soggy McDonald concoction. Bring back the bread!
