Re: Weghorst
Whatever .. with Martial being injured it looks like he will be in the Man U squad at the very least in the Cup Final on Saturday. That will mean at a minimum he will have a major English football winners and runners-up medal, possibly two winners medals, in less than six months. Two more than Harry Kane has ever had!
Perhaps a good game for Burnley at Brighton apart he never floated my boat in a Burnley shirt but if he doesn't get a deal he wants if United turn him down in the summer, he will be a Burnley player on Premier League wages for another two years

I Hope he scores the winning goal on Saturday.
Good luck to him. I don’t think there are many of us on here who wouldn’t have taken steps to progress our career. That’s pretty much what he did.
He’s not a Burnley fan. He’s a professional sportsman, probably nearing the end of his career.

Do you think it was optional not to go by his wishes it was conditional prior to signing him.
Re: Weghorst
I think it probably was actually unless he had a release clause which if he did nobody has met it. Maybe he had a clause in his contract for a loan transfer but we will never know. Otherwise in general, no you wouldn't break a promise unless it was hard times and we had no choice.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 7:00 pmDo you think it was optional not to go by his wishes it was conditional prior to signing him.
My point though was we have facilitated not just 1 but 2 loan transfers for him and he was talking about his future at United beyond this season and speaking with them. He hasn't mentioned returning to Burnley from what I can see.
I don't see the loyalty that some fans are showing to him reciprocated.

It's in our interests & his for the loan agreements to be arranged, we don't want him & he doesn't want to play for us, it's an unhappy marriage with no future & mutually we need to work a way out of it with minimal financial loss.trawlen wrote: ↑Wed May 31, 2023 7:31 pmI think it probably was actually unless he had a release clause which if he did nobody has met it. Damage limitation is the only game in town where Weghorst is concerned, so best get used to it.

Wout is currently a claret and as such I hop he has an excellent game on Saturday and gets on the scoresheet. However, I have to say that I don’t think he’s what we need this season. As a forward player he consistently misses chances that he should be taking.

Re: Weghorst
I wish we could just leave him alone until we know what his future is. Too many entrenched positions which might mean VK can’t resurrect his Burnley career even if he wants to.
Ten Haag finds a use for him. So it isn’t inconceivable that VK could want the same.

I guess a lot will depend on Wout’s attitude. I know some are saying his attitude is not good but from what I have seen he always seems to give it his all. If he is prepared to do what VK wants then I that’s good. But I still don’t rate him.

They still annoy me because although we’ve had a great season, we could’ve had a longer uninterrupted period in the Prem. Although maybe our new style needed to be seeded in a lower division!

Re: Weghorst
I think that there are a number of possible reasons why his career numbers haven’t matched his Prem Numbers. Only one of which is he isn’t very good. He has something about him but his confidence is through the floor. He may be able to come through. There have been games for us and Utd where he has been good. He works hard and has good technique. That might be enough to get VK interested in at least trying him.

Re: Weghorst
What's your evidence for this.
Weghorst started every game for Dyche until his departure. It was Jackson who dropped him.
That rather suggests that Dyche rated him.

Re: Weghorst
Weghorst wasn't a dyche signing I don't think he had much of a say in it, he played him he had to really, can you imagine him not playing him the position the club was in, would have been an uproar with everybody excited about him & not knowing thinking he would have been a success, that much pressure you had to give the lad a go despite any misgivings.

Re: Weghorst
Not sure why you ask?
Dyche was certainly our manager at the time, and he was always in his starting eleven.
Was Dyche told that he had to sign him and play him? I doubt that Dyche would have worn that, and based on Dyche's record with the club, he wouldn't have picked him unless they saw eye to eye and he rated him.
To be honest, I'm not really sure that he fits into a Dyche type system, but nonetheless Dyche persisted with him, so he must have been seeing something on the training ground.
