Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Either their could be truth in this or it is to leverage to get Chelsea to sell, but which would you prefer Mattsen Or Gomez?

It's great being linked and that's all it is but i want to see new players in sooner rather than later.

At least wait for the window to open before you have a wibble.Clive 1960 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 7:40 amIt's great being linked and that's all it is but i want to see new players in sooner rather than later.

I saw a poll on this the other day. Quite a lot of people had voted and at that stage more people had chosen Gomez.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 7:25 amEither their could be truth in this or it is to leverage to get Chelsea to sell, but which would you prefer Mattsen Or Gomez?

Unless you were a regular watcher of Anderlecht, I’d question where those in favour of Gomez had seen him. He played 900 minutes of football for City last season. That’s about 10 games worth.
I watch a lot of football, but can barely remember seeing him play. Again, its transfer opinions are often Football Manager-esque.
I’m not saying he wouldn’t be a good signing or even better than Maatsen. I just marvel at how much people claim to know about footballers they would have struggled to watch.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Article in Lancs Live this morning suggesting that Maatsen has one year left, plus an option. It’s the first time I’ve seen this mentioned but might explain Chelsea being able to demand a little more on the fee.buzzclarets79 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:12 amDeals to bring players in will be structured in instalments along side add ons, such as surviving in the PL, so if we do sign the likes of Tella or Maatsen for 20m, the actual cash out of the bank initially will be quite small, staying up will be key. If we did go down (unlikely if you ask me) but if we did we'd easily move these players on for decent fees, due to age and potential.
People saying Maatsen can leave for free at end of his contract, I think due to his age Chelsea would be due compo as we did with Ings move to Liverpool (stand to be corrected though)
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Reading a link about Tresor and it says that Dimitri De Condé is the person we'd have to negotiate with. I have a feeling that we were linked with him back around 2000. No idea if there was anything in it.

Dimitri De Condé himself has been linked to Technical Director roles at West Ham and Southampton.
Edit: Leeds also interested in appointing him.

Reading Dimitri De Condé's work at Genk since he joined the club in 2015 is to buy young and then sell, resulting in over €300 million in players sales including Leon Bailley and Sander Berge
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Sounds like Tresor will be close to €20m if we want him.
Likely be breaking our record transfer if Kompany really wants him.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Seems like Tella and Maatsen have been priced at roughly £20m each if we believe media reports. For me Tella makes Maatsen look dear, as I can understand why someone who has scored 19 goals and also contributed in assists is initially priced at £20m. Of course depends on structure of that fee and room for downward negotiation. Spending £40m on both seems a lot of our powder is being used, however if it meant close going up to £20m for Tella, or close, at the expense of not having Maatsen that would sound more logical for a club like us. We know Tella likes our club, has friends here and has got to know the area. He knows also that he can enjoy and probably succeed in the PL under Vinny. For us it might give us a £35-£40m in a few years
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
To be fair the window isn't even open yet and despite that we've already made two unbelievable signings- Beyer and Kompany on an extended contract. There's no doubt we are going to get more.Clive 1960 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 7:40 amIt's great being linked and that's all it is but i want to see new players in sooner rather than later.

I expect we want Maatsen and Gomez. Charlie is the one we will move on,ClaretAL wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 7:25 amEither their could be truth in this or it is to leverage to get Chelsea to sell, but which would you prefer Mattsen Or Gomez?

Think Taylor will still leave but we will only sign one of Maatsen or Gomez and Vitinho will be back up left back, especially if we are still signing that right back from Portuguese league
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I think the ship has sailed with Vitinho at left-back. Kompany won't be wanting someone to fill in. We're Premier League now.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 4:46 pmThink Taylor will still leave but we will only sign one of Maatsen or Gomez and Vitinho will be back up left back, especially if we are still signing that right back from Portuguese league
It wouldn't surprise me at all if Vitinho is on his list to sell.

No chance we sell Vitinho with the amount of positions he can fill in. He may also develop into a handy player yet for a specific role.

I think the fact you haven't mentioned a position speaks volumes. He doesn't currently have one.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 5:05 pmNo chance we sell Vitinho with the amount of positions he can fill in. He may also develop into a handy player yet for a specific role.

Nixon saying we are making a new 7m + bonus offer for Jack Clarke. Sunderland want 10 guaranteed.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I don’t think it does , what is he 22/23? He’s as close to the old “utility” player as you are going to find in or squad , can play out wide either side , either full back role, and if a change of system was to arise I do think he’d thrive as a wingback. He attacks much better from a deeper position than he does as a winger . If he could tidy his passing game up a bit I also think he’d be useful in the centre of the midfield as a bit of a ball winner high up the pitch.
One of his stand out performances was actually at left back against Wigan away.
I think it speaks volumes that our manager was chasing him at Anderlecht and brought him to Burnley , probably for those very reasons .

The Prem is not the time to be trying players in 147 positions to see what suits him.
I can see yoyr point mate of course I can. I just don't think Kompany wants him.

Every team needs a Vitinho in it. He is our utility man

No way is he getting sold. The squad will need exactly someone like Vitinho for squad depth, I think we won’t see him as often this season but he’s in the 25 man squad for sure.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 7:57 pmEvery team needs a Vitinho in it. He is our utility man
He’s Burnley’s James Milner.

Thought he was excellent when he had a long run in the side when Roberts was out, just not been to get a place since Christmas.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
The players I can see kompany being happy to leave:
BPF
Franchi
Thomas
McNally (or loan again)
Taylor
Churlinov
Jay Rod
Weghorst
Richardson
Think he will keep bastien around as we are limited in the middle
Costelloe (on loan)
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I'd agree with most of this except for Taylor, I think he's proven PL quality and is worth more to us (especially now he can play 2 positions) than he would be to sell and get in a replacement.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 8:38 pmThe players I can see kompany being happy to leave:

We have very different thoughts on football.
You are keeping BPF, Churlinov, Jay Rod and Weghorst. No. I'm pretty much replacing half of your list.

At £10 million I think this would be an excellent signing. He’s a young lad who looks a very good footballer I’ve seen him three times now for Sunderland and he has perhaps been one of their best players on every occasion.
Set up the first goal for the Mackems vs Burnley.

I'm saying I'd keep Taylor, happy for the rest of the list to leave. Not sure what's a "different thought on football" really, why does everything have to be so fractious?

If anything from Football Fancast comes to fruition, I'm the 12th Earl of Northumberland.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
It was strange last season, I don't think Charlie really fits at left back or centre back into the VK way of playing. We needed to keep playing him so that he doesn't lose his value but at the same time Maatsen and Beyer were better options. I'd be very surprised if he's still here in September. I wouldn't be surprised if Dyche wanted to sign him.
I'm surprised at people thinking that Jay might leave. He's another year on his contract and I can't really see him wanting to go anywhere else. Surely he's the sort of influence the lads need in the dressing room, his experience of 220 appearances in the Premier League surely has more value than getting his wage off the bill. Jack Cork is the same, 300 games at this level is massive. You can't replace that with a 22 year old from Belgium.
