Watford Home - Fill the Turf
Watford Home - Fill the Turf
After that excellent point it really sets up for a huge winnable fixture against Watford, who are without this seasons best player.
A win would put us above Newcastle and Watford with games in hand on both, as well as a point behind Norwich with 3 in hand.
Hopefully with a few new signings and Cornet (if IC get knocked out) back the fans will be well up for it.
Purpose of a new thread is to suggest to Pace to put together an incredible offer to get a full capacity of Clarets in there. This is our West Ham at home game from 2018.

Biggest game in years for us.
Win it, get some players in to help the squad, and then have Cornet returning after this match and you never know. Our games in hand and ludicrously good GD (comparatively) could be crucial.

It’s looking pretty full at the moment. We need it packed though. Everyone get yourself a ticket and get on to everyone you know that’s an occasional visitor and get them on too. We need to make TM a fortress again!!

The problem is since going off injured away at Newcastle on 4th December he's played 45 mins vs Leeds and then 70 mins vs Equatorial Guinea, the issues with the niggles appear to be the pace and intensity of the Premier League and his body taking time to adjust to it. The enforced break won't help.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 4:37 pmOr the fresher he will be. The guy is a level above what we have atm. Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
It is but today has to class as an important point, especially given Newcastle & Norwich winning, it was vital we got something just to stay in touch before we play our more winnable games.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 4:50 pmIt’s wins we need, draws just keep things ticking along we’ll know more after Watford.
Draws at Arsenal, Chelsea and Leicester suggest on our day we can compete, what's annoying is we've not yet turned up in the crunch games (Brentford apart), and obviously that will need to change, but the encouraging factor is the fight and desire displayed today, that's what we as fans have been demanding, and nobody can fault the lads for their effort today to dig a result out at a team riding high.

12 Home Games left.
36 Points
8 Away Games
24 Points
28 points from 60 to reach the magic 40.

Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
Every week some of us keep saying the same thing but when you look at the league table nothing really that much has changed, our rivals are getting better results than us it’s ok now at this stage but eventually a stage will be reached where draws are unacceptable based on our rivals doing better if results continue to improve for them.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 5:01 pmIt is but today has to class as an important point, especially given Newcastle & Norwich winning, it was vital we got something just to stay in touch before we play our more winnable games.

Agree completely, Saturday tea time, absolutely fill it. If you have stayed away for whatever reason, come back and roar the lads on. This could be as big as "that Middlesborough night." Who knows, we could also be welcoming new players to Turf Moor!!!

Slash them prices and get it full , we need it full for once it’s been like a library all season , I know it helps when you have something to shout about
Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
Would tend to agree.
We put in a really good away performance today but I’m struggling to see who is going to score the goals to keep us up. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that we are going down but am already looking forward to us (hopefully) bossing the Championship next season.

Seen as it's Liverpool and United next up at the Turf post Watford, usually the two highest attended of the season, it would make sense to do a 1 off special price for just the Watford game or a very special 'three pack' price for the three.

Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
I don't see how they can reduce the prices, because most of the tickets have already been sold at the full price, Can you imagine the stink some people would make if they were charged more than somebody who they regarded as a 'part timer'. The club can't win if they reduce prices.
Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
If the fans don't believe we can stay up then why should the players. Its not over till the fat lady sings.

Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
Never heard owt as ridiculous as reducing the prices for our biggest game in years, if anything we should be charging more.
Pish poor is our support and fan base in we can't get a decent turnout for the Watford game

Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
Take your point but I don't think its ridiculous to suggest it would be great to see the club announce the match was officially sold out prior. But yeah, hopefully people recognise the importance and cough up regardless.Top Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 7:35 pmNever heard owt as ridiculous as reducing the prices for our biggest game in years, if anything we should be charging more.

The support should be unconditional without trying to rinse people.
Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
It doesn’t necessarily have to be just reducing ticket prices.
Anything to improve the atmosphere would be welcome.
I went to the Bruges derby a few years ago in the Club Brugge end, and everyone was given a flag on entry. At the very least, a flag or scarf would get people up on their feet, and more involved in the atmosphere than they otherwise would be.

I'm not sure someone who refuses to go to games because the players kneel down for a few seconds before a game should be preaching about "unconditional support".Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 7:44 pmThe support should be unconditional without trying to rinse people.

Burnley gave flags away for a big game v Cardiff 3/4 years ago. The atmosphere was good that game and we got a vital win.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 7:45 pmIt doesn’t necessarily have to be just reducing ticket prices.

That’s different than somebody charging a few quid extra, I don’t want to support the BLM movement or any action linked to that but I’ve supported all other anti racism groups/initiatives. If you want to promote a feel good factor pre Watford you make the effort to actively engage.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 7:53 pmI'm not sure someone who refuses to go to games because the players kneel down for a few seconds before a game should be preaching about "unconditional support".

Seems my response to comments like this up was “moderated”. So I’ll use some less pointed language. Unconditional support is not a requirement, but stupid comments like this help no one. We’ve plenty of opportunities to stay UP whatever the Watford result. Seeing Foulbreath is resigned to us going down maybe they should go watch Accy or Colne.

Oddly, if you look at the bottom four, and given our vastly superior goal difference, if we draw all our games in hand we will be out of the bottom three. Not perfect but it’s a nice thought.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 23, 2022 4:50 pmIt’s wins we need, draws just keep things ticking along we’ll know more after Watford.
Re: Watford Home - Fill the Turf
With the later kick off time a lot of fans, me included will be well oiled and with lubricated vocal chords it should rock. UTC I just get the feeling after today Wood going was our turning point. I did hear that he was becoming a bit of an irritant around the place.

That’s possible depending on what the others do draws could keep us in contention, would you be confident us going into the final game of the season & needing to win & other to lose to be ok or would wins be better now to avoid that potential situation?

Problem being we have Man Utd and Liverpool in the following week both at home.
Sadly Watford despite being a bigger game won't appeal as much to some as seeing Ronaldo or Liverpool live.
